Love declutter content! I need to do another round of decluttering. Recently, I keep buying mass market decks and then returning them. The acquisition aspect of this tarot hobby just isn't as exciting as it used to be, but I still have the habit of purchasing new things when I'm bored or whatever. But then I get the new deck in and almost invariably think, why did I buy this? I'm slowly moving towards realizing that I probably need to stop purchasing new decks for a while lol. But in the meantime, I've also really gotten into journaling and planning again this year! I've had a lot of fun with it, but I need to take the plunge on decorating mine more because that part I always find really intimidating.

Yeah, I have bought so many decks that I don't vibe with, especially mass-market decks! They did help me figure out what I like better, but it was still a waste of time and resources to buy and return/resell them in the first place. Journaling and planning is so fun, isn't it! I hope you're able to figure out ways to enjoy it even more - such as decorating, if you want. Having activities that we DO enjoy helps me curb unhelpful habits, like impulse buying or being on my phone too much.

I’m presently reading Jeannie Reed’s book. I certainly want to explore her ideas more for card combinations to show different health or relationship/life situations.

"How to Break Up with Your Phone" has been on my TBR for a while, this was the reminder I needed to place a hold at the library! I've been enjoying journaling and analog stuff lately as well! I started a commonplace book a few months ago and I've been using it as a place to take notes on books and articles that I read, which has been fun. I feel like I'm reading more & taking my time and actually understanding what I read. Also I get the fun bonus of writing in my cute little notebook 😄 Lovely and thoughtful video as always!

Thank you for the kind words! 💞 Psst, library/Libby secret if you're in the US, Broward County and Harris County offer free library cards to non-residents! I put in my current address and got library card numbers at each. Helps with less hold/wait times for books 😀 Cool that you've been commonplacing as well! How often do you write in it? Do you have a routine with it so far? What kind of information have you been putting in lately?

@@tangytarotOoh, I'll have to check those libraries out! I moved to a bigger city this past year and it feels like every book I want to check out from the library here already has a huge waiting list 😅 I try to add an entry to my commonplace book at least once a week, but I mostly just do it when I feel like it. As I browse the internet throughout the week, I'll save any interesting articles in Zotero via their little browser extension. Then whenever I want to add to my commonplace book, I'll just browse what I saved in Zotero and pick something to read! So far I've added lots of tech & environmental stuff, but I keep some sticky notes in the back of my notebook with topics that I want to research and write about. Low Tech Magazine and Branch Magazine are some of my favorite places to find articles, and I also have a bunch of intro-level stuff from the anarchist library saved. I've also been reading a lot of Ursula K. Le Guin books this year and I've written down a lot of quotes from her! Have you added anything fun to your commonplace book lately?

Smart, to have a browser extension! I'll also start keeping sticky notes about topics I want to look into more; so far I plan on taking notes on a bunch of tarot videos I've saved 😀 That's so cool that you find articles from Magazines and the anarchist library! I've been rereading the Percy Jackson series and Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan. I'm almost done with Heroes of Olympus book 5. After reading each one, I looked up their plot summaries and wrote the major events in my commonplace notebook. Just feels satisfying to remember the major events and see the stories from a bigger picture. I plan on reading more adventure books from the author's imprint, Rick Riordan Presents, which are written by other authors and center other cultures! I started reading the Aru Shah series, which is retellings of Hindu mythology, and already read & took notes on the first book 😀 This commonplace hobby is so exciting!! It's exciting to translate knowledge from my mind onto paper, and to have it in one place to review afterward.

I love declutter talk!! I like hearing other people's reasons for decluttering 😊 I've been on my phone/social media every day for like 15 years or more lmao sometimes I wonder what it would be like to unplug for a day.

Unplugging is definitely a whole process! It definitely takes time and effort to understand the reasons and triggers why we reach for our phones (or follow any other compulsion) in the first place. It's hard to cut it out or decrease phone/internet usage without having other activities or practices to replace it.

This was such an enjoyable video. I really liked hearing how you're using your notebooks/journals. I need to start a commonplace notebook instead of jotting things down in random places.

Thank you, Carrie! 💞 I also tend to keep notes anywhere and everywhere. I'm migrating everything into this commonplace notebook gradually. Reviewing and transferring all these notes is a slow but fulfilling process 😀

I may check out 'How to Break Up with Your Phone.' I have been seriously considering shifting to a non-smart phone; my current phone is showing its age and so I know that replacement is something that will happen in the next year or two, and a lot of the smartphones have things that are hard "no" for me. I wonder if the book might not really be for me, since I already don't have things like FB and IG at all; I am exploring the role of tech in my life more broadly too (ex. how I feel about online Druid ritual, what kinds of notes I want to keep digitally vs paper, etc). I am excited to see your astrology video!! 🎉 I love seeing people's charts and hearing their thoughts and I am thinking of a way to share mine in a fun / interesting way on my channel as well.

I have also been playing with switching back to a flip phone. I'm just really hesitant to give up my access to maps. But part of the push for me in making this decision is that my current smart phone is really getting old and slowing down and new ones are sooooo expensive. It's gotten just too complicated.

Yeah, a lot of smartphones have features that are not only unnecessary, but unhelpful to our well-being! For Android phones at least, there is some customizability: for example, I have the "minimalist phone: launcher app" which disables all app icons, so my home screen and app list is JUST text. It makes it so much easier to disconnect because no more colorful app icons tempting me. Besides curbing social media usage, I found the book helpful for: checking my email less - there are tips on how to clean up one's email inbox too; listing and reconnecting with analog hobbies I enjoy; being okay with being idle or still, rather than whipping out my phone in the elevator or during a moment of boredom; noticing what discomforts trigger me to compulsively check my phone even when I'm doing something else. I've been turning my phone off every night now, and it's helped me so much in my journaling & notetaking before bed! I saw your TarotMyChart video awhile ago, and have that tag in my queue for VR! Ages later, I'm finally ready to do my own 😀 I'll keep brainstorming ideas on how to incorporate charts and tarot.

Oh no! Not the Future Ancestor Tarot! Though I totally get it, I have several decks by Asian creators that I've *put away for later* in *case* I grow into them as a reader. (When I grab some brain space, I do want to film a VR to your Asians on Tarot Tube tag, I just have a screeching baby that's taking all my capacity at the moment) Love your new journals and how you're shifting journaling in 2024!

I agree, not the Future Ancestor Tarot 😭 Luckily, my friend was really happy to receive it from me! Speaking of decks by Asian creators, I'd like to try bringing in and trying more decks by Asian creators, giving them more of a chance & seeing if I can learn from them, even if I don't keep them around long-term 🤔 Let me know if/when you make a VR to AsiansonTarottube! I always love seeing new responses 😄

The commonplace notebook is a really clever idea! I may have to try this one. I'm a compulsive tab saver on my web browser which bogs my computer down and I never get around to reading them all. A commonplace notebook might really help this inclination of mine.

Yes, if you start one, I'd love to see it! I also have way too many tabs and bookmarks that I hardly revisit, or say I will visit but never do 😅 Taking analog notes is a great way to remember them.
