The thing about No Man’s Sky is there is you cannot just fly forever until you reach another star system. There is a fixed size for every star system and there is a fixed number of star systems in every galaxy. There are 255 galaxies in NMS. What I’m saying is every star system in the game combined is huge.

According to reddit it's 8.502 square kilometers (around 10 if you include unpassable mountains), with fallout 3 being 8.462. Fallout 4 is actually smaller than new vegas of you exclude water. But 935 km is absolute bonkers.

No Man's Sky works off a 64bit Integer Procedural generator. When Hello Games adds more stuff for the generator, it only affects non-generated planets. In other words, when you visit a new star System, that's the birth of those planets. You "created" those planets by visiting that region. The game doesn't have a set planet path. Which if you think of it, is incredible. The endless space exploration is... mind boggling.

By far the biggest space game world where you can explore every planet right down to the surface is SPACE ENGINE(although more of a program).it literally has billions and trillions of galaxies while no mans sky has only 255 galaxies and elite dangerous just has one.
