Two that come to mind for me with this theme. 1) Flowey’s boss fight in Undertale. If you play like he tells you too and are extremely gullible by touching the ‘friendship pellets’ he’ll call you an idiot amongst other things I’m pretty sure. 2) The Henry Stickman series. Just the entire thing, almost every fail makes fun of you.

Ironically enough, there are even video games that make fun of you for being "too good" in a game and would outright punish you. Some of the games would even go as far as call out the player for being a "try hard" and say "do you do anything else besides play this one game" after 100%ing it. So long story short, games are going to mock you for playing the easiest difficulty and the hardest difficulty. Sometimes within the same game because apparently the game seems to hate us.

The only tutorial-y thing I saw was the game showing me how to control my character and then instructing me to go along a valley to one of the statues and then it left me to explore on my own. Well, I tried climbing the big cliff near Mondstadt some times and I drowned the traveler two times in the trench around the city because he ran out of stamina while swimming over, but I now rather teleport to one of the waypoints ontop of the cliffs or walk around to where there's a slope to walk up or at least "steps" in the rocks that I can rest on.

One game that roasted you for doing bad was Banzo and Kazooie. Gruntilda the Witch would always come up with random cheesy isms that was both bad and insulting at the same time, always mocking the player in some way. Not only that, if you quit the game, you become a 'loser' and Tootie becomes a terrifying monster who wants to 'talk' to her own brother. That game is fun and wild

About the segment with the video game “bully“ in-game detention, does that include getting accused of doing something you that didn’t do? If so, I always thought that getting accused of something that you didn’t do, and getting detention because of someone else in real life was bad, mostly because (and YES, this did happen to me in real life too) bad things always happened to me from REAL bullies in middle school, they always got away with it, and I ALWAYS ended up being the one getting lunch detention!

I’m not sure. It’s been a while since I’ve played “Bully”. I ALWAYS got in trouble for things I didn’t do in real life as well. I'd rather playing on normal difficulty. Because too easy is boring, while having it too hard is wasting time like a lot more than necessary, just for the same content. I realized I can use the extra time to play another game instead since I have a lot on my playlist. Although some games which have normal difficulty is still too grindy. And there are also some normal difficulty games being too easy. Every game is not the same. So in some cases, I have to pick Easy and sometimes pick Hard. For example, games like Yakuza I picked Hard because Normal is too easy for me. Persona Q I picked Easy because it feels like a boring grindy after some time, while Persona 5 Tactica I picked Hard.

Dead Cells. The scribe roasts and insults you EVERY time you die, or even reset from the menu. There is also an achievement for 1) ground stomping into a spike trap, and 2) dying while holding over 100 cells, even saying "burn" in the description. Cells are a core part of unlocking weapons and items, so losing that many is BRUTAL.

10:44 Bully is awesome....I used to get attention a lot and I didn't mind (especially side missions), it helped get stuff I was looking for, run a prefect over, and make weird shapes in the grass. Such a classic game. I was a little toe rag here.....the rocket launcher and spud cannon was fun to use. Sometimes, the glitches were fun too

There is a fangame called JoJo The 7th Stand User that gives players the option to switch the difficulty at anytime during gameplay, however if you switch it to easy, a clucking sound would play which is the game's way of calling you a chicken for wanting to make things easier.

Some games offer you variety of ways to succeed - they are there for you to chose one that suits you most. Even if you found a way to cheese a game - IMO it's less important if completing it the intended way is not you cup of tea - that you are inventive enough to able to solve the task your way. I find it much more interesting to find ways to abuse the games than playing them normally.

Ohhhh you forgot the OG (of my memory) of roasting bad game play, The Lost Vikings! Every time you restart a level the 3 characters have a conversation. After lousing over and over they begin taking jabs at the player. One if my favourite, most deep seeded childhood memories is on the fantasy stage if game 2: “I’m getting sick of this player!” “Ya! 3DO's Shadow War of succession is a fighting game also uses the splash page trick Twisted Metal did, by preventing you from accessing the battle against the Shadow King and saying:"looking for a real challenge? Go play on normal" Another game that don't directly "mock players", but still lock out the rest of the game, is Castlevania on the N64 where if the player finishes the industrial area and get to the elevator on Easy mode, the game says you've completed everything that was in easy mode, if you want to get to the end, play in Normal mode

1:33 I say the chicken hat needs an upgrade, of absolute shameful proprtions. If the player dies 20 times to common soldiers, they get presented with the option: "Turn Snake into a chocobo?" Turning snake into a chocobo makes you unable to equip guns, unable to use items, drops mission status to an B rank, makes you undetectable, and only can deliver kicks to your enemies, however enemies can mount you as if you were a steed: BECAUSE YOU ARE!

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games tell you things like "You Suck!" and "Don't Do Drugs!" and other things whenever you go out of bounds, which gets really frustrating when you're repetitively trying to complete a challenge that is designed to send you out of bounds if you screw up.

A couple I’ll add here. The new survival horror game Pacific Drive has an achievement you can gain called Driver’s Ed Dropout which you can only get if you hit the accelerator before putting the car in drive 20 times. Then you have the amazing horror game Dark Deception that mocks you literally every time you died by the main side character Bierce. For example; “Killed by a statue, you must be crushed” or what about; “Dead already, that’s ok, no one liked you anyway. and finally; “Well looks like the jokes on you, and on the floor, and all over the walls.”

There’s another game I know of that isn’t fond of the easy mode. In Roblox there’s a game called HOURS, a rogue-like (meaning dying loses all progress, though here you only lose the level you were on and upgrades you got during those levels) game with difficult bosses and enemies. Even the first boss can wipe you out with his constant barrage of attacks with regenerative abilities! Enough about that, the difficulties are named in a way where the smaller amount of time is the harder difficulty. For example, Seconds difficulty is the hardest with Hours being more relaxed, but after Hours it skips what you’d assume “Days” and goes straight to Weeks, with the description, “Cringe baby mode. For weaklings.” No other changes are made but the fact that you become almost unstoppable. For context, every damage that’s taken also staggers your character, cancelling small moves and making you unable to move for a short time, but with Weeks nothing will stop you from shredding enemies without pushback. This is made even easier on HOURS’ emphasis on using time related abilities, with the first (as well as a few others) allowing you to completely stop time!

There was a game I played on the Wii U I think called Puddle, and while the gameplay was actually pretty fun, if you messed the game would insult you. It' a 2D game works by tilting your gamepad left and right to move the puddle to get enough water to the end, but there are times where you can loose water and are forced to restart. If you fail too many times the game would let you loose one of your 4 'whines' which would skip the level for you, ok, that's fine. But, use all 4 an still mess up and the game will say 'Why don't you back to one of the levels that you cried on so you can snivel again', and admittedly, this hurt me to the point where I started to cry, and then deleted the game.

my boys loved Jak and Daxter. they loved the many comments from Daxter. we have/had 2 dogs named Jak and Daxter (Jak passed in 2020, Daxter will be 13 in a couple weeks). we also got the following games in the series (up to Jak X, we aren't fans of the racing games) so being dissed by a game sometimes is super entertaining.

If you enter the only cheat code on Bauldur's Gate the Dark Alliance on the PS2, the characters each have a unique quote that signals that the cheat worked, it also capped your level at 40 but does give you all spells, even the ones you shouldn't have. Also, another one that is probably possible on the PS2 but it definitely works on PC, Ton Clancy's Ghost Recon puts makeup on your soldiers' faces like drag queens if you give them god mode.

I first realized there was a snarky help mechanic in one of the later handheld Mario 3ds games. If u died several times the game offers u to start out w/the P-wing item. If you choose not to take it and continue to die it offers u the GOLD P-wing. Like, c'mon buddy, take the help. X'D

There is a Sonic the Hedgehog game for the Nintendo Switch that allows you to make an animal avatar for yourself, one of them has the ability to draw Rings toward you. On Easy Mode, the amount of rings only goes up to 100 and on Hard mode, the amount increases.
