Maybe a less relevant question in terms of grinders - but which color did you like more in person? Is the coating damaged easily on the black version?

We haven't seen any signs of damage on the one that we have in the studio here. The silver is really popular though!

Thanks for this review as I’ve heard so much about this grinder. Your description of the differences between the burr sets was especially helpful. I’ve recently gotten into specialty coffee with different brew methods. I have the Baratza Encore and am looking into starting my espresso journey. I know the Encore is not able to grind fine enough for espresso; will the Lagos Mini give a better cup for pour overs than the Encore and do espresso or should I get a second grinder for espresso? I guess the real question is whether the Mini is noticeably better than the Encore for pour overs.

Ultimately, the best solution is always going to be a separate grinder for each application. It’s less a question of capability and more a matter of enjoyment. Yes, the Lagom mini will taste slightly better than an Encore for pour over, though not significantly. But swinging between two extreme grind settings on a stepless grinder will become frustrating, because previous espresso settings are hard to replicate without purging and very precise points of reference on the adjustment. It’s worth it to have a second grinder already dialed in for what you need.

Thanks for your reply. I never thought about the difficulty of going back and forth with a stepless grinder. Now I can focus on a grinder strictly for espresso.

Thanks for the review of the updated Lagom Mini and is options! I was ready to buy one of these but now I'm headed for basically just pulling shots, minimal brew grinding as I'm ordering a bambino plus so I think I'm gonna get the Niche Zero but still keeping an eye out for things like this for the lower fines at larger grind sizes. What other grinder, that would not be more expensive than this, would you recommend, specifically for brew grinding methods (French press, pour over or even cold brew)

In this price range, the Fellow Ode is a great pick. It can also be upgraded with SSP burrs for even better tasting coffee.

@Prima Coffee Equipment thank you. It's definitely looking like a best option so thank you for your experience endorsement of the Ode. I'm thinking about buying the fellow shimmy and just sticking with the Niche and cleaning some of the fines out of the grinds for Pour over or French press 🤔

Hi nice review, is it easy to adjust grind size say between aeropress and pour over? Just thinking seen as option-o removed the numbers do you need to go back to zero each time then count the dots?

The distance between these settings isn't very far, so it can be done without zeroing first.

Which would you recommend, the new Ode V2 or a Lagom Mini? Can the Ode V2 burrs compete with the Moonshine in terms of clarity, or with the Obsidian in terms of body?

Conical burrs can’t compare to flat burrs when it comes to clarity. Conicals are great for espresso and the body lovers among us :)

@@primacoffeeequipment I do agree, but to my understanding from what I've heard from other KZbin reviews, the Moonshine burr has insane clarity that is almost like a flat burr. Do you find that consistent with your testing?

If espresso is of your interest, the Lagom Mini is the best one, if not the only option. The Ode V2 is not built to deliver fine grounds for espresso.
