The mountains lion was probably injured ( probably had teeth problems ? ) and wasn't able to hunt / eat in it's own. That's the ONLY REASON it came to a a Human for HELP. Mountain lions are so RARELY seen because they stay AWAY from us . Think if it as a really big FERAL cat . It saw this woman who keeps & feeds several species of animals .it came to her for help. It came INSIDE her HOUSE 🏠. It dragged the dog outside, yet didn't savagely attack and eat it ? The goats , died of heart attack . If that mountain lion was a vicious killer it would have been gnawing on the bones. What was the temperature that night ? 25° & 30° ! The Lion was cold ! it was looking for a den to sleep in . We humans keep building mcMansions encroaching on the Mountain Lions territory , and we say : " OMG ! It came into MY home " . wow . I love my kids/pets as much as the next parent , yet this woman KNEW she was putting her pets & herself AT RISK ! Keep your pets inside, doors Closed n Locked &. WAIT for Wildlife Rescue, Fish & Game, Animal Control .. to Get There ! This lion could have and SHOULD HAVE been tranquilized , gotten veterinarian care & LIVED out her LIFE at a Big Cat Sanctuary. That's exactly WHY those places exist ! personally, I think this woman wanted her '15 minutes of fame.' Plain and simple . smh . this is all so, so sad . Next time , her karma will work against her. maybe they'll shoot HER with a Tranquilizer Dart n drag HER away from HER HOME, just because SHE was SICK . or HUNGRY !

Not once did I have trouble of any kind with either.They ate together, slept together and played together. The cats for the most part didn't like outside people and dismissed them. My dogs from a very early age were always in the presence of hoomans so they behaved well. Never bit anyone and I watched very carefully when they were around children. Dogs are no harder to clean up after than cats. In fact all of my dogs and cats were house broke. In really bad weather they both had litter boxes. I guess it just depends on the individual and how much training and time they want to spend with their pets. Anyway, I wish you, yours and any pet you choose a happy, healthy life. @@BearDown4Life Everyone has, duh. Humans are animals too and we also need territory to make our homes. The fact of the matter is that people are taking up TOO much of the territory of other animal species to build lavish homes, non-essential commercial buildings, etc. At some point, the animals are going to have to come into contact with people because of that, and people need to understand that. that’s what the person is trying to convey. That, and the fact that this woman is obviously not smart by any means. She should not have any pets. They should’ve been taken away from her. She can’t even follow simple instructions, which were given to her for her safety and that of her pets. Not to mention the fact that she either left her sliding glass door open, knowing that there’s an Apex predator basically stalking her home, or she didn’t bother to lock it when it slides open, and animals are often smarter than people think they are. They can open doors like that. If an animal desperately wants to get to some thing, it’s going to do everything it can possibly try to get to it.

@@davidcarrol1882 so she says. If they died from a heart attack then the mountain lion would be able to get a much easier meal. A mountain lion in that condition isn’t going to pass on an east meal like that. It didn’t kill the dog by crushing its wind pipe so it can’t he assumed that it killed the goats just because they were dead. If she doesn’t even know how the goats died, one can’t assume that it was from the mountain lion. There’s a big difference between being killed by having your windpipe crashed and by having a heart attack. A vet should be able to figure that out, but did she have it looked into? She never said.

So... let me get this straight. You have REPEAT visits from a mountain lion(s), and you've done all you can to prevent them from coming to your yard with no success in stopping them.... but you leave your sliding door open? Why? WHY? If your dogs need to be let out, get up and check your yard, let them out, and WATCH them go and let them back in right away. You call the proper authorities, and they tell you to STAY INSIDE THE HOUSE until the next day, but what do you do? You let your dogs out to use the bathroom. Because ANOTHER dog attack (or yourself) is worth risking over maybe cleaning up a pee puddle I guess. And then you blame the mountain lion for killing two of the goats from a heart attack or maybe crushing windpipes? But, no blood or bite or claw marks. Did you leave the door to the barn open, too? Maybe she just needs to be investigated for animal cruelty/neglect and have her animals taken away. I don't feel sorry for her at all... but it's a shame so many animals were injured/killed from this. Also, I would have fought that thing off (as much as I wouldn't want to harm it, when it comes to my animals or my kids, I will do anything). Grab a knife, or a gun if you have one. Anything. Your dog is right there. Pull it inside. "Dead" or not.

Just so people know... if this happens and it is illegal to defend yourself or animal, and you are within reach of a chair... a chair will Corral it. I've done it many times, that is why you see lion trainers at the circus using chairs. The 4 legs confuse it to the point they don't know where an attack is coming from and they will back up with each step you take towards is. Just keep the legs pointed at the animal. You gotta be tough and stand your ground though. They will spit, hiss, snarl and smack at you, but if you are going to do it, stand your ground and keep eye contact.

Every now & then, an old, senile mountain lion can do something like this, but coyote’s do it every hour of everyday. We’ve removed so many Mountain lions & Bobcats the last few decades that it has caused the coyote population to increase six-fold, with no predators to keep them in check. Asa result, skinny, desperate, & malnourished coyotes riddled with competition over scarce resources & space, have adapted to hunting in daylight without fear of humans (also due to feeding). Return balance to nature by relocating mountain lion/bobcat, and putting down coyotes (temporarily).
@jlee5821
@jlee5821 Жыл бұрын
Actually, you're incorrect. Studies have shown that hunting & killing coyotes as a form of population control doesn't work. When you start killing them they increase not only how often they breed but how many they have in a litter. Of course, eliminating almost all larger predators have allowed coyotes to become more widespread but not to over populate. When left alone they control their own population but when you start breaking up & killing off their members, they start over breeding. Of course, this creates an endless supply of sport killing for certain people so, studies & science don't really matter.
@user-mw6jo7ql1c
@user-mw6jo7ql1c Жыл бұрын
You cannot simply put down a coyote and fix the problem because they will breed even more. Don’t believe me? Research it. That’s why they are so hard to eradicate. The more they are taken out, the more they breed. When their populations decline, they breed more. It’s hard to combat them.
@jlee5821
@jlee5821 Жыл бұрын
@@user-mw6jo7ql1c If they are left alone they control their own population & don't over breed. The mountain lion was a threat to people at that point and relocating it would not be possible since it was an older cat. It would have only either been killed by other animals, would have starved because it couldn't hunt well, or it would have just made its way around humans again where the prey, like pets or possibly children, would be easier to catch and kill. Besides, the mountain lion stayed around the woman's property for the week it took the wildlife animal control people to catch it since the same night of the attack the lion was outside of the sliding glass door looking into the house and 2 goats were later killed. It most likely also couldn't eat very well since the injuries on the dog weren't that bad.

If that thing showed up on my property, I will become a shaggy carpet (via .44 caliber). We've had 3 mountain lions come down in our area over the last 3 years (I live near Twin Falls, Idaho near the ID/NV border) that have threatened human and animal lives. Here we take that seriously and our State Fish & Game teaches courses and deputizes trained marksmen for the purpose of Public Safety and dispatching of these cats when they become a threat to humans. Why this gal took her pets outside the same evening after this event happened is beyond me.....

What constitutes senility in mountain lions or is it automatically assumed because of the age? I guess we have something in common with mountain lions. They put it down because it was old or old and senile and not worth the expense of relocating (to old to breed and be of use) or they don't relocate and just put every animal down that becomes a problem?

All we have is their word that the cat was old and senile. That may or may not have been the case.

Why wouldn't they relocate the cat instead of killing it? Or take it to a wildlife reserve? It's the pet owners fault, not the lion's.

Killed two goats by _looking at them?_ Of course, absolutely, or, she killed the goats to get compensated for a wild animal attack. Generally, there are two types of people that move to fringe areas, survivalists and freeloaders. We already know she has no screen door, or does not trouble herself to use it in cougar country...

It is not by accident. Nothing is by accident. Everything is the way it is by design. The major 'food' companies, beverage companies and fast 'food' companies have been working hand in hand with the 'government' to control the population. If you look at the statistics, you will see that obesity, diabetes and cancer rates have been increasing every year since the early 1990s. The main problem is too much sugars and carbs in the diet.

It took 5 days for Fish & Wildlife officials to catch and kill the mountain lion. Well, when her neighbor initially scared it off with a gunshot, why didn't they just kill it then or when it came back and killed 2 of her goats? This animal was a danger and could have killed a child somewhere. I understand that modern people are "afraid" to kill an animal but that animal is killing your animals and you have to do something. Hopefully, this woman will keep her doors closed from here on out.
