This is good information. A lot of people don't know this. A guy sold me a tractor real cheap because he thought that it wouldn't go backwards. I played around with it and figured this simple trick the hard way. So knowledge is for all not only reserved for the ones that already know.

I have a husqvarna tractor YTH20K46 ... and I got it free needs a new head bolt, any way I got it home and took the blade deck off to push into the backyard and the wheels were locked (which it wouldn’t move forward or backwards... after reading the manual I think I’ve figured it out that the transmission was engaged but the key switch at the back is loose so I’ll have to play with it to disengage it...
