This is what Saturday night telly used to be all about.....miss all the great entertainers. How I long for the days when people on TV were stars and had talent. THAT was the reason they were ON TV. Thank you Val and Dave and all your fellow stars.

Both were not just great entertainers but possessors of great humanity and charm. The present generations of 'celebrities' are devoid of these attributes.Stip the world I want to get off

Dave Allan was a great comedian, and thanks to video recording, he still is in a way.

Love to him and ken - I met Dave for BBC, he was so pleasant after the show (1981). I also did a mega mess-up on introduction, but thar thou goes or wents. He was far more calmer in real life - + a total bloke, offering me a fag (no pun). Mark.

As an Irishman, Dave Allen saying that he was in 'the British army' at that time, was a very big deal!
