I love your work. I would love to see a full tutorial on how to make a perfect voice over for (youtube) videos. Like how you compress the voice, how to make it sound more powerful and bright (full), etc. that would be amazing. Thanks for these amazing videos, you are the man.
@VideoRevealed4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. I think a tutorial like that would be beyond most users because it involves having a good monitoring system and good ears. Most people can't hear the difference when adding compression. I think the best solution is what I show in this tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX-6d4l_ncmVbqM Plus, you really have to start with a good recording and so many users skimp on microphones. If you're really interested in great audio, I use Slate Digital for my high end music projects; but that might be overkill for video editors. Slate has an incredible course on audio compression but you really, really have to listen closely to know what's going on. slatedigital.com/ultimate-guide-to-compression/

Thanks for a great video, Colin! We're really excited about the Essential Sound panel (ESP for short) and what it can offer novices when it comes to mixing audio. One comment to add is that the different Mix Types - dialogue, music, etc - are each unique modes, and changing a selected clip from one to another will remove the old effects and settings. Of course, you're free to use whatever mix type you want, even if it doesn't accurately reflect the content, but if there's a certain effect you'd like to see added for a mix type, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Super video! Colin, can you tell me if there is a way or approach to using essential noise floor effects and apply it to a batch of files at once? For example, I record a batch of clips, all with same ambience and now I want to fix the noise floor in one go?
@VideoRevealed8 жыл бұрын
You could process one file and save the settings for whatever effect you use (like reduce noise) then run a Batch Process. Here is a tutorial for my Adobe TV channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYikmWqErZ5se68

wow!! thanks for this Colin! ive always thought audition is overwhelming program thats probably will takes months to learn? with the new update it simplifies many many things! its very similar to the Premiere Pro's Lumetri color where its all sliders now for color correcting/grading, in Audition is the same but editing Audio!!! awesome awesome! Im pretty good with Premiere pro, I would like to see a tutorials on working with audio using dynamic linking with Audition? otherwise a great tutorials on working with audio with Premiere pro.
@VideoRevealed8 жыл бұрын
Dynamic link only works one way: from Premiere Pro to Audition and only for the video, not the audio. All audio editing between Premiere Pro and Audition has to be rendered. Dynamic Link is a "headless" version of either Premiere Pro or After Effects, but not Audition. They are working on how to better connect Audition and Premiere Pro, so stay tuned in the future.

Go to the Preferences> Audio Hardware and change the buffer settings there. A smaller buffer size equals less latency.

is there a video showing how to transfer audio files back to premiere once they have been fixed in Audition?
@hvmzaxib8 жыл бұрын
search for dynamic link
@VideoRevealed8 жыл бұрын
Dynamic Link does not work *from* Audition, the files need to be rendered as a mix or separate stems. The easiest way is to Right-click on the clip(s) you want to send to Audition and select Edit in Audition. This operation will extract the video and import it into Premiere Pro, launch Audition and you're ready to edit the file. When you Save in Audition, the linked audio clip in Premiere Pro will also be updated. Just so you know, Dynamic Link is a "headless" version of either After Effects or Premiere Pro. There is no "headless" version of Audition.

I really hope you reply to my comment. I honestly thought Audition isn't good audio editing program. But now it changed up my mind. Perhaps, I'm not really familiar to the program (been using for week) or rather to how audio editing softwares work. My questions are "How does Audition stack up to the likes of Melodyne when pitch correcting vocals?" I've tried editing vocals like "auto-tuning" them. Putting auto-pitch correction, reverbs, etc. But it didn't acceptable for me or something close to "auto-tuned" pop shit songs from the charts. Any advice? Last is "How about for Logic Pro or Mixcraft?". Like can Audition substitue those two programs?
@VideoRevealed7 жыл бұрын
I know Melodyne very well and nothing touches it in terms of manual and automatic tuning and quanitizing. It's pure magic. Audition supports VST 2 and 3 plug-ins so I don't see why you can't run it as a plug-in. Audition can definitely perform audio operation against all the "big boys" like Pro Tools, Logic and Cubase (my choice). I'm not aware of Mixcraft. But, there are no virtual instruments or MIDI in Audition so for me I use it specifically as an audio tool for video projects. Cubase is my main music creation program. On a side note, I'm forcing myself to *not* use Melodyne and instead, sing the parts correctly, no matter how many takes. :-)

Seeems like a lot of these effects are in the new version of premier pro. Also what's the reasoning for having to be a multitrack season when it still gives you the option to treat each track independently anyways.
@VideoRevealed7 жыл бұрын
These new effects methods require clips to have a tag to know what they are (ie: music, dialog, etc.). Those tags only apply to clips in a Multitrack Sequence. Also, the whole premise for this new method is based on track automation and the only place you can use tracks are in a Multitrack. Yes you can edit individual audio *clips*, but they aren't in a track, they're just clips.

For mixing yes, but if you need Dolby export, you need to purchase that as an extra add on because Adobe removed the Dolby license from all its software.

This is great timing, because I have an issue with audio in pp. I have recorded some audio on a device that creates .wav files. I can play them in windows media player no problem, but when I import the files into pp the file appears but there is no audio. Am i missing something really obvious?

It's not your fault, try deleting the cache and make sure you're using Media Browser and not File> Import menu. Let me know if you still can't import the audio.

It sounds like something is set that is preventing the ability to edit the clips. Yes you can unMute by pressing the M button but that shouldn't prevent editing.

Contact me here with a link to the audio clip: videorevealed.com/contact.html Removing vocals really only works if they were recorded in the center; which most recordings are. If they are not recorded that way, it could be more difficult.
