isn't it great how magic pencil lives on? the later years you always had magic pencil, with phonics but the 80s only did it with single letters and never with phonics, this a magic pencil is a pre record from the Sophie era?

@morgaineofevil This was aired between September 1993 and December 1993. The previous academic year 1992/1993 was when Sophie first presented and it was repeated in 1994/1995. Sophie went on to do a series in 1998/1999 and again in 2001 for older children Known as Words and Pictures Year 2 - last year of infants. Sophie did the most episodes but Vicky and Charlie rarely used magic pencil - yes.

Funny how we can be so focused on facts about alligators and absorb it as children but as adults be like ''um...'' I like the blue graphics but the music isn't my cup of tea and that magic pencil music accompanied by that ''posh'' voice ....just no, sorry Michael. Thanks for the upload as always. Watched in year one alongside the Reception class.

@Hayley Dennis Yes, there are still more Michael episodes _and_ more Sophie episodes to come, but I haven't sorted them yet so can't say for certain which ones.

@VideotapeFTW Indeed. The 1993/1994 academic year began with'' C '' in September for Words and Pictures with Michael. I am unsure of the transmission date for this but obviously between September and December ''C ''when, Sophie presented was December 1992 with the focus on.... you guessed it - Christmas.
