Do people typically use their auto insurance minus deductible to pay for paintless dent removal for hail damage? I would've never event thought to use it for that.
@vidicz
@vidicz 3 жыл бұрын
Yes they do. It's better to have it repaired because when you are trying to sell the car a damaged car will have much lower value.
@privatename3621
@privatename3621 3 жыл бұрын
@@vidicz Subtract that "lower value" you are referring to from the massive year over year increases to your insurance rate by filing a claim, plus the loss of any discount for being "claim free" each year for the next 5 years, and it starts to not look so appealing to fix cosmetic damage that no one will notice which isn't looking closely. This is why so many people are turning this into a small DIY project and educating themselves on the practice of dent removal. Relying on insurance companies to actually be fair and do what they were designed to do is never a good idea. They always use any situation like this to their advantage. Bottom line is, they want to collect on skyrocketing insurance premiums for decades, but when it comes time to pay out a little, they sucker punch you badly. Again, raising rates after filing a claim SHOULD be illegal, but its hard to prove because they never divulge who's rates are increasing and who's aren't.

I bought a project car and I'm new to pdr. Even though I'm going to paint it and do some body work, would you recommend starting on the smallest dents possible? I think I have enough artistic ability to reshape the bottom of a rear quarter panel that was pushed completely flat, but I think that's a pretty extreme first dent to learn on
@vidicz
@vidicz 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes I would recommend to start with the smallest dents. Easier to fix and gets you going.

Great sharing video Zan, about all you didn't show was the bar / tip used on the tailgate, was obviously a sharp tip. (Edit, just saw your comment below " dentcraft set of left and right wire tools".) I really like Hyundai metal, it PDRs really well . . . did you pick up those small dents 1:04 and 6:11 along from the bigger cant rail dent ok ? Just curious Zan, do you use a dent lifter, like the Ultra Dent A34U ? I would use that over a slide hammer on that for sure, on curved cants just use a couple of medium density foam pads to get the feet on. In fact any dent I can get my lifter onto, its my go to for glue pulling tabs . . . I can snap 'em fast, or massage them up as needed.
@vidicz
@vidicz 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I did finished that smaller dents as well :) Went back after them when I finished recording as I forgot about them lol. I do use a dent lifer...I use a lift rite. However never on the rail.
@lesskinner8588
@lesskinner8588 3 жыл бұрын
@@vidicz cool mate, just googled the lift rite, one of the upright type, good for tight spots. Never tried them, just used to the Ultra Dent type, I feel that allows me to really sharply snap and lift same time, great on small deep dents with tiny round flat tabs (like 5mm / 7mm blue ice smooth). On cant and other rounded panels, I have some stiff foam pads I put under the feet to bring it up to right level. Try it, you will probably be able to fast snap using your lift rite. All the best.

Hi Zan. I really enjoy your videos.I noticed you didn’t use cold glue on the hail damaged car and i thought that glue was especially good for hail damage. Can you provide advice on why you chose hot glue as I’m keen to learn the different uses before I buy cold glue to repair some hail damage. Thanks . Craig
@vidicz
@vidicz 3 жыл бұрын
Cold glue gets out shallow smaller dents when we are talking about hail. It's a way to speed up your repairs when dents are right shape and size. Hot glue is must! So start out with hot glue.
