5 years of studying Urdu at secondary school and a GCSE sat two decades ago was one of the few better choices I made. Coke Studio totally made it worth it. Unfortunately Punjabi is completely lost on me so still struggle with some of the songs

Urdu is a beautiful language evolved by poets from multiple other languages. To me listening to formal Urdu on TV programs is music to my ears. (Imagine my feeling when I heard Anjum's part in Phir Milenge song 😎) Like Urdu, Punjabi (my mother tongue) also belongs to Indo-Aryan family of languages but mastering it is somewhat harder than mastering Urdu (IMO). "I am not fluent" would be an understatement; my Finnish (reading and writing) is better than my Punjabi these days. So while Punjabi (and Sindhi) is hard to master, one can connect dots for most part if Urdu is familiar (being the same family). OTOH, Pashtu and Balochi are Indo-Iranian, so they require learning from scratch pretty much if that family of languages is unfamiliar.

Xulfi is a legebd but Xulfi isn't the only producer for this season tho. Lol. A lot ppl forget that Abdullah Siddiqui (singer from Go) is the man behind the new instruments addition to Coke Studio, he is also the producer for this season along with Xulfi. CS season 14 is the brainchild of Abdullah Siddiqui and Xulfi. Eta: This season is GenZ meeting traditional beats.

Every song of season 14 was a journey , though not a fan of electrical instruments , like more traditional instruments but ZULFI introduced me to the other part of the music mountain
