C2 Proficiency (CPE) Listening Test 9 with answers helps you practice listening skills for the C2 Proficiency Listening Test new format.
The C2 Proficiency Listening paper has four parts. For each part you have to listen to a recorded text or texts and answer some questions. You hear each recording twice.
Part 1: Three short, unrelated recordings lasting approximately 1 minute each. You have to listen to the recordings and answer two multiple-choice questions for each recording. Each question has three options (A, B or C). One mark for each correct answer.
Part 2: A monologue or prompted monologue lasting 3-4 minutes. The questions are a series of incomplete sentences. You have to listen to the recording and identify the information you need (one to three words) to fill each gap. One mark for each correct answer.
Part 3: A recording with interacting speakers lasting 3-4 minutes. You have to listen to the recording and answer a series of multiple-choice questions, each with four options (A, B, C or D). One mark for each correct answer.
Part 4: Five short, themed monologues, of approximately 35 seconds each. There are two multiple-matching tasks. Each multiple-matching task requires the selection of the five correct options from a list of eight. One mark for each correct answer.
There are 30 questions in the CPE Listening Test.

@@VietFCE I see what you mean and the choosing of one felt weird to me too. However, I do believe there might be a mistake somewhere, both the transcript and the audio use the proposition OR when mentioning physiology and medicine. I found rather unusual that someone would get a prize in X or in Y but that´s what the audio (and transcript confirms) says.... thoughts? Thanks again for sharing this with us!

On the third extract of part 1, question number 5 wouldn't it be better to use the term "infer" instead of "imply"? I'm really happy, I got a 29/30 this has been my highest score so far

As for 15, I used the word "discoveries" instead of "breakthrough", which in fact is a "major discovery". Can it be accepted? It wouldn't alter the meaning of the original text, in my opinion. Also, I used "laid the grounds to new research" instead of "gave birth to...". Does it count as a mistake?

The correct answer is 'breakthrough', others will be incorrect.

Câu B: Segregate their classes by religion là sai. Mặc dù phần cuối có đề cập "so we will also have segregation by religion". Nhưng đây là 2 điều khác nhau. Câu B: Segregate their classes by religion có nghĩa là religion khác nhau vẫn được học chung trường, và xếp lớp khác nhau. Tuy nhiên Speaker nói trong đoạn này là người có religion khác nhau thì cha mẹ sẽ không cho đi học chung một trường >> sẽ không có chuyện phân lớp được khi ko học chung trường. "so we will also have segregation by religion" >>> ý tác giả là người có religion khác nhau sẽ dẫn đến việc học trường khác nhau.
