I was so close to visiting Vietnam and Japan at one point. I'm a Motion Capture actor and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity. ☹That would've been a real dream come true to work in Japan and visit South Eastern Asia. Love your upbeat attitude and spirit. Those VN dishes are delicious and such good value too given the price. The thing that still amazes me is ordinary Vietnamese can enjoy delicious food at great prices and even seafood is not an exclusive dish to expensive restaurants.

Don't drink the top egg foam separately from the coffee in the bottom . You have to mix them up together with a spoon before drinking them . That will give you a more homogenous delicious taste .

You guys did a good job of finding your own food, but most Westerners are not familiar with Vietnamese food so oft times they eat it wrong, which takes away from their culinary experience. I'd recommend doing a food tour in all the cities that offer it in Vietnam. All the people that have taken the tours really enjoyed it and learned a lot about the food and how to eat it properly.

I’m pretty sure it’s different cuts of beef in the pho and not mutton. We eat mutton in VN but it’s not very common.

FYI. You supposed to mix the bacon and the meat and veggies together and pour the sauce on mix it like salad that’s how you supposed to eat those plate.

@@kseniakolykhalova5629 This is true for a lot of Vietnamese food...however, bun cha you do not roll the greens and dip. You toss all the stuff in the flavored dip/broth and then eat. Although I guess you can grab all the protein, noodles, greens in your chopsticks and dip if you want to. If unsure, ask the servers or observe how others are eating it.

You can definitely get lunch for under $5 if you get a street bahn mi or other street food! At a restaurant can usually do under $10! Have a great trip!

Bánh mì bây giờ ko ngon bằng bánh mì những năm 90, bánh mì hồi đó nướng kì công, vỏ ngoài giòn, dầy, cắn ăn cảm nhận rất rõ lớp vỏ bên ngoài giòn tan, chứ bánh mì bây giờ vỏ ngoài mỏng, ăn ko bằng xưa

STOP calling the Fried Egg Rolls/Cha' Gio- as Spring Rolls/Goi' Cuon'. Also, don't assume or compare on country's foods to another country's dishes. Try to take things as they are with your tastes and palates.

I dont eat bun cha very often but it looked like you were doing it right. You just do your best to get a little bit of noodle and a little meat and dip it in the broth/sauce to get all the flavors.

yo bro, sweet and sour sauce is more of an Asian-American thing, what you're dipping the springroll into is fish sauce (that's pickled carrot and daikon in it). seems like your first time just trying to fill you in lol
