For us Spanish speakers the NH is super easy because it sounds just like the Ñ. The NG is hard though.

Ahh, my problems are the ending sounds, but you introduced another problem for me: Bạn, mặn, lạnh. They all sound the same and it sounds like Bat, mat, lat. The Southern dialect does not have this problem. Thanks again

You pronounced "tones" like "tons", but I understood you. With that being said, would you not understand me if I pronounced a word differently, especially if it's contextual?

So NH is similar to "-nya" of bahasa indonesia, as in "menyanyi", or "ñ" of spanish, as in "niño", and NG is similar to "dengan" of bahasa indonesia or "singing" of english?
@-goatqueen68172 жыл бұрын
Good examples for both! I think any "ng" sound in Bahasa Indonesia is comparable to the Vietnamese "ng" because the "g" isn't pronounced (i.e. tangan, dengan, jangan, etc.)

I see that you posted this 4 years ago. Where did you go? Anyway, this is my struggle with the northern dialect. The nh sounds like the American ng. Think "ring" as the one on your finger. It is frustrating.
@indecesiveman55393 жыл бұрын
The ng sounds identical to indonesian ng, and the Nh sounds similar to "Ny" in indonesian

Th: press the middle of your tongue to the roof of your mouth, open your mouth as you exhale. This is a voiced sound. T: gently hold the tip of your tongue between your teeth, no exhaling. This is an unvoiced and gentler sound.

Thanks. It's a useful video. It's good that you include plenty of extra vocabulary. Just try and focus more on the actual class, give a little break for us to repeat and say it a few more times. This way there is no need to continually pause the video. Thanks
