Thanks for everyone who popped in to show off during the week of recording this season finale, you guys rock! Let me know if you like the idea of me showcasing pilot names or if you prefer the anonymity that I usually go for when watching people takeoff and land. Again, this was just for the season finale, but if it turns out you all like seeing the pilot names I may opt to keep that in for Season 3. Tune back in for part 2 soon! Could we organize a tournament? Who is the best pilot at landings? Who is the ultimate Star Citizen? Could be a great yearly event.

One thing I love about this series is that it really shows off gigantic the spaceports and hangars are. They don't look so large in first person from the cockpit.

When I started playing I swore the hangars were made of rubber. They never looked large enough, but somehow stretched to fit my ship every time (except when I crashed).

You really need to adjust your expectations for the landing gear. There's a reason we all complain about it. 1. It's not more "cinematic" to pull out the landing gear at the last second. 2. The way the flight model works, having landing gear out and being decoupled puts your ship into vector hold mode which is the best way to land smoothly and safely. So the game itself encourages doing this. You actually get much better cinematics by using this method. 3. Real pilots drip landing gear way before the get to the runway, they don't wait till their just above the tarnac, so from a role-play/immersion point of view it again makes sense to deploy earlier rather than later.

Hybrid, You should organize a "Watching your Landings Tournament." have 2 people land and 1 of them moves on based on the best landing, until there is one winner! - Perhaps a Fury as a Reward or something?

I think I am both sad and relieved that you didn't see the time I tried landing at Hurston, had a massive tail strike, and front flipped down into the hanger. I stuck the landing though.

For the Sulyen the best trick I can suggest is bind a key to rear camera and make use of your attitude indicator on the HUD. Pull over the target, gear down rotate 90 and hit the rear cam. That will help you align during descent. Even if you have to come in at an angle, rear cam makes a world of difference on the Sulyen. Thing of note... it's oddly a bit behind the ship, so if you are close to the surface, it may clip into the ground. This is the case for all ships, its just real noticeable on the Sulyen when landing.

Always fun to see Landings and takeoffs! ThanX again HVA for bringing these series, and keep them coming, as they keep me on my toes when taking off and landing, cause perhaps U might be watching! 😅 On that note, I wish that CIG would fix the Hangar size for the C1, cause I think it is a bit unfair to pilots, sticking a ship that size in such a small hangar, not only for Landing/takeoffs but also when landed and opening, sometimes there is not enough space to open the back entrance, as the ramp is pretty long, so I always have to test and open prior leaving the pilots seat.

Nice vid, but why not daylight ? A lot of gamer are not enjoy the start of landing an do it no well. There is too less immersion.

No Reclaimer pilot will ever earn a 5. It's not your fault. The VTOL thrusters are too weak to maintain altitude. Keep doing short taps with the boost key to nudge the ship to do what you want as you land at New Babbidge at night in the middle of a blizzard.

What the heck? I tried to get close to a vehicle gate last week and I ended up having to be like 3 km away before it stopped threatening to impound me.

Some gates have extra parts of the city extend from it and the game gets mad if you get close to those. Gate 02 has nice wide open space that lets you get closer.

I like to see a pilot turn smoothly on takeoff to get to a desired course, rather than just nose up and pull straight out.

Small hangars are really small for some of the ships forced to land/takeoff from there.

Man yesterday trying to land the reclaimer it was like landing a slowly descending balloon that just didn't have enough in it to go up anymore for some reason I swear I had everything set right and it kept on falling at about 5 or 15 miles an hour then started seeing the tops of buildings at a 18 as I was still a couple miles away from the hangers freaking out about to lose 7 million worth of cargo and I'm about to cry as I see the tops of the buildings rise above me and I'm still falling and I started to think this is all going to be a big loss then I bump a building very softly it tilts me sideways and I'm holding the sideways thrusters trying to stop myself from rolling further on top of it still descending a little bit some miracle happens and I'm able to get a little bit of altitude just barely enough I scraped my **** over the hangers and I just barely make it home scraping against the side of the inside of the hanger not even able to straighten it out it was like landing a nightmare XD but I swear it was the most heart pounding stressful sweating moment I've ever had in this game so far, landing that ship can be a real nightmare if you aren't truly prepared on top of it being my first landing I tried with that ship, even me trying my best to be as slow and gentle as possible..... Something about that also honestly felt like something was actually wrong maybe a slight bug because it should have had more lift than what it had it was just not trying to do it at all that day XD

I've ended up upside down next to the opening and somehow ended up succesfully landing - my first ~20 reclaimer landings were slow motion train wrecks - a lead balloon is perfect description of trying to land one

the hull c did have VTOL on, the second, angled set of underside thrusters on the engine cluster only fire when VTOL is enabled

2 months no playing, came back, loaded up all my gear, armor, went decided to grimhex to get a cripto key for the new Overdrive missions. Felt confused on ship movement during my landing. Pressed the old "alt-C" to enter coupled mode.... And the ship accelerated to max speed (my current speed limit).... .......... .... I'm pleased u were not there (or maybe yes :P) EDIT: The reclaimer is much more quick climbing with full VTOL, no forward movement.
