Just a quick update for everyone who was trying to watch the Eagles video that was released last week....yes, it was taken down because of a false copyright claim, and I was given a copyright strike in the process, but please know that it was NOT actually the Eagles that filed the claim. It was just some douche bag impersonating the Eagles who used a fake email to get the video falsely striked and removed. I have already filed a counter notice and I am awaiting a decision from KZbin on the appeal. I'm sure that they will let the video come back considering the false nature of the copyright claim (and the obviously fake email that was used), but you never know. I'll keep you all updated as I know more. Until then...I'll be chilling in Interlaken.

An idea that could result in good content with minimal hours devoted to would be to watch you analyze games as you're watching them for the first time. Call out defensive coverages, any notable matchups to watch before the snap, any tendencies in play calling you're noticing. Even if you get fooled or you're wrong about a scheme, it would still be very interesting watching you get fooled by coordinators, and learning from it. I love your work and admire the hours you put into it. I also enjoy your unexpected topics of discussion, GB OL and falcons losing to the eagles, for example. Im getting really tired of hearing about the big names and glamorous headlines.

@Thergood6 жыл бұрын
k99krig For game broadcasts that make perfect sense, plus there isn't a lot of time during broadcasts to break stuff down. But casual fans aren't watching the NFL network 24/7. That's not too mention all the digital and "new media" avenues open to them to provide this content in addition to what already exists. Streaming, video, blogs, etc. etc.
@SnackMuay6 жыл бұрын
I’ve been thinking the same thing. I understand that maybe ESPN doesn’t want to bother casual football fans with analysis, but the NFL has their own network dedicated to football, why aren’t they airing some deeper-level analysis?
@SnackMuay6 жыл бұрын
Jumpin Jahosaphat I think there’s a good chance that you’re right, but unlike MTV, we’ve never had a chance to see if a film breakdown/analysis show would be successful. And with a full team of people instead of just one person, you could reduce the numerous hours of film on a per-person basis. You’re right that people wouldn’t be doing it for money, they’d be doing it out of passion, but there’s no shortage of people who are willing to work hard just for the passion of spreading football knowledge. Television is losing viewers to online media, but there’s no way to know that that isn’t *because* the programs are so broadly tailored. I personally get incredibly bored of hearing the same surface level analysis for months on end, especially during the off season when there aren’t a lot of storylines to follow. I think that the offseason could be a great time to teach football fans more about the game.

That answer to the first question is so cool. Must have been amazing to witness two greats going at it, dropping all that knowledge. I love your content, and I have a question/request that I hope you see. I don't know how feasible it is, but is there a way you could pick through the league and go through all the main offensive/defensive philosophies and give a crash course on them? So that Seahawks defense you mentioned - the philosophy behind it, the prototype players you'd want for each position, the "bread and butter" plays, etc. Since it's a "copycat" league, you probably don't need a video for each team, just one of one of the teams that do it the best and examples of other teams that do essentially the same thing. I assume for the Seahawks, The Falcons are a very close "copycat" to what the Seahawks do, since Quinn was the defensive coordinator at their peak. Maybe highlight the stuff they do a little differently from the team that best exemplifies their scheme. Maybe we see the same kind of relationship between the Pats and Lions this coming year with Patricia bringing the Patriots' defensive philosophy to Detroit. Same for teams running and passing schemes. I wouldn't even know what to look for when trying to find similarities between most teams. I assume the Chiefs and Eagles would be examples of teams that try to do more or less the same things due to the close coaching tree ties. Anyway, thanks again for all the great content.

The interesting thing about Seattle is that even though they're the forebearers of this new wave of single-high coverage, they themselves don't play with undersized linebackers; Bobby Wagner is 6'0" 240, and K.J. Wright is 6'4" 245. That's what allows them to play with just four underneath without sacrificing in run defense, and Kam Chancellor's size was a huge boon to that, as well. Everyone else is focused on the pursuit to the ball, but the average linebacker has dropped 10-15 lbs and is more liable to get run over by the Elliotts and Gurleys of the world.

I think the Chicago Bears would be a great topic for a video. They have completely changed the offensive roster over the last two years. They have taken on the ideology of the Rams and Eagles by getting a young QB and surrounding him with an offensive minded coach and a lot of weapons to be successful with. Also the Bears have been flagged by several sources as the surprise team for 2018. They are a team with a lot of no name players and they have a very high ceiling coming into 2018. They could be very interesting.

That’s such a good analysis on the next trend. The return of the cover 3/Cover 1 structure has been something I’ve been following for the last 5 years. The Seahawks pulled off a perfect balance of size and speed by having Pete Carroll’s signature beasts of size on defense. This defense originally reminded me of Pete’s 2007 defense from USC. Kam-Mays, Rey Maualuga-Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright-Kaluka Maiava, Clay Matthews- Bruce Irvin, Brian Cushing-Malcolm Smith. Kevin Thomas and Shareece Wright were not the typical 5’9 college corner back. They had bigger frames and were better tacklers then the other corners at the time. But I’m a falcons fan. And the hard part about watching my falcons is knowing that we’ve built a funky version of that Seattle defense. Our D-Line isn’t all that big and our backers are tiny. We love saying Keanu Neals the next Kam chancellor, but he’s just as vulnerable to getting run over as TJ Ward and Pat Chung. Yeah he’s going to get his big hits. But he’s not going to anchor on a left tackle and drop his ass like Kam. What worked for us during that 2016 season was the fact that our offense got up on teams QUICK. And it played perfectly into our defenses hands. Our team is built for 7-7. And when Kyle jumped the falcons into a big lead early, our defense would capitalize by creating sacks and turnovers. Last year Sarkisian didn’t understand that dynamic and it screwed up our defenses ability to create turnovers. We weren’t in games that allowed us to set the tackles on fire with our bad ass pass rushers. We were always in the tight games.
@BrettKollmann6 жыл бұрын
I agree about Neal. He can run full speed and absolutely DETONATE someone in space like Kam...but he can't take on a block and set an edge like Kam. He's one of a kind.
