I went to view a few of these back in the 70’s. You could buy a plot back then with land, a house without services, and get a full grant to help fit a roof, a bathroom etc. from around £2000. I ended up in ‘84 with a third of an acre, stream, a river close by and 5 bedrooms! And was able to live-in straight away for £19k. Sold it 8 years later for £ 65k. The fresh air is the best.

I am absolutely stunned to find this video.. My family on my father's side lived in this very house decades ago... nay, centuries ago. and only a few months ago, this year, I went there to see the house after the hermit that lived there passed away.. I have several distant relatives living in the area and lots more in the cemetery that you pass on your left as you head towards this house.. and even pass a farm on the left just after the cemetery where relatives of ancestors of mine still live. To put this into reality timescale.. I am in my 50s now.. and my father's father's mother's father's mother Margaret M******* was born IN that house in 1822 (according to Census records). And to the guy posting who knows where this is.. and without revealing its full details....it is called H.N Farm, near the village of P.. near the town of T.

My wife and myself moved to South Wales 10 years, we bought a nice house for £70k. The house is now worth more than three times that now. Prices in Wales are almost on a par with English prices, although you can still find the odd terraced house at a reasonable price. To buy a decent detached house you are looking 300k to 400k minimum, much the same price as where we previously lived in West Dorset.

Wow if thats in west wales Pembrokeshire area then £360,000 was a good auction.. this property is just beautiful what dreams are made of but unless you're in the building trade then we are talking about a huge budget to do this property justice those outbuildings alone were worth that price so much potential with them as for the farm house it would probably be best to knock it down and build a new eco house including local materials where possible..im just wandering if it had acreage with it..and that view WOW amazing wild life and beauty that stream you crossed over👌.. whoever bought the property your talking about several years getting permissions and then the building project, Great place good luck to them♥️🏴🏴👍...

£360k for the property, plus £200k for renovations or rebuild, plus the cost of maintaining the land, driveway etc. I bought a place in France much like that but much smaller garden and house 20 years ago, cost about £10k to buy, but £90k to get to a living standard. After ten years of trying to get tradies to work, and doing a lot of work myself I only got £110k for it.

It is an outstanding location but sadly we were beaten at auction. On to the next dream, but I am still hoping that it will come back onto the market one day.
The guide was 250 - 300k but it went for 360k in the end. This was beyond my budget so I am on to the next crazy plan now.

Hi Guys, We viewed the same property a few weeks ago and my wife's comments were much the same.... "It's too steep, it's too remote, it's too muddy" LOL Great views though, let us know how you get on at the auction.

Didn't win auction but the wife is much happier now.

So sad to see someone's whole life there, especially knowing that it will all be thrown away, and it'll be like he was never there 😔

I agree, it makes you realise that the things we possess are worth nothing to us in the end
@Lord-Brett-SinclairАй бұрын
Only for the very brave, too much to do yourself your at the mercy of the local trades - if there are any willing to take this on.
@ProjectBrinnАй бұрын
It is so much work and didn't win at the auction. It sold for 360k which is much more than I could pay, taking into account the cost to bring it back to life. I wouldn't be surprised if it is back on the market soon as it broke the developer who won the auction.
@demonicadavies3674Ай бұрын
Think that would be a grade 1 or 2 listed building, so you would have to ask permission to do stuff to it. Seems too much to do. Too much money to put into it.

It is the perfect location to get away from everything. Sadly we didn't win the auction, hopefully the universe is holding out for something even better.

Just needs a rewire and a lick of paint. Seriously this is a builders project. Unless you have really deep pockets. I would knock down house and rebuild. Probably cheaper to do. 👍
@KeithPierce1000Ай бұрын
Its a serious project for sure and not a DIY job. Local authorities dont like demolition of traditional buildings and it's not necessary with that particular farmhouse.
@ProjectBrinnАй бұрын
One of my fears was getting the materials to the site and removing waste. Didn't win the auction so onto the next

By look at it first job new roof Probably have all beems in roof to replace as well We're you able to see inside attic A lot of internal damp and definitely water getting in from roof Lot of wood panels hiding state of walls Would invest in damp meter when checking walls so you know what your looking at maybe to eye ok but you never know A few of walls not done with lime so walls can't breath causing damp Will need a lot of money to do this complete restoration Think I prefer barn than house Gosh it's beautiful is that barn Beautiful views How many acres of land came with property
