@Barstool Prophet Hey, just saw this. Ugh, this is hard. I’m a Gen Xer who had bunch of older cousins influencing my musical tastes, so, let’s see... Eagles, Greatest Hits...Thriller, MJ...Purple Rain, Prince...Rumors, Fleetwood Mac...Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morisette...oh, and I also love country. Bluegrass and southern gospel....so, Alison Krause + Union Station, Live (2002)... Best of the Gaither Vocal Band...Lynyrd Skynrd, Pronounced “Leh- nerd Skin-Erd”, and also Adele, Live at Royal Albert Hall...I guess that makes ten! If I had to live with those ten for the rest of my life, I’d say I’d do alright. How about you, my friend?!?

@Barstool ProphetOh, I’m with ya on lots of those. I love Yes, Kansas, Styx, and of course Led Zeppelin. It really is crazy hard to choose just 10. Funny how neither of us picked the Beatles. I like some of their songs, but for whatever reason, I just never got into the whole full on devotion thing. Maybe because they broke up before I was born, idk. If I could add one more it would be Journey, Escape. Don’t stop believing! Lol.

The blending of the two songs are just phenomenal. The two songs are just iconic to the 70's and 80's. The music now, " just doesn't have the same soul" to barrow a line from another iconic song from Billy Joel. Rock On 🤟🤘👊✊. It is amazing how the younger generation are just know listening to Classic Rock Music, and learning to appreciate the music of this era. They really enjoying and experiencing the sounds and meanings behind each and every song. We need more young people listening to more Classic Rock Bands from the 70's and 80's. Just listen and let the music flow flawlessly throughout your body and sense's.

You really need to look into how this album was created, by ONE man, Tom Scholz, in his tiny studio basement apartment. He did EVERYTHING except drums and vocals. And being an MIT graduate in electrical engineering he invented devices to help him achieve this amazing feat, many that are still being used today! And he was classicaly trained on keyboards but had to teach himself how to play guitar and bass for this album.Truly a super human effort and one of the greatest accomplishments in recorded music history.
@neechee5150

@Mr.56Goldtop Well not quite. All of Brads vocals were recorded by producer John Boylan at Capital Studios. The entire song Let Me Take You Home which was written by Brad was recorded at The Record Plant LA. Toms degrees from MIT are in mechanical engineering and Tom has never worked as an electrical engineer What specific devices did Tom invent that are still in use today? The Rockman is a dinosaur that really died out 30 years ago. If someone like Joe Satriani wanted to get a "Rockman Sound" he would just use a digital software plug in So what specific devices (plural) are you referring to? I see so many people make this comment/claim or one like it but I have yet to see them give any specifics.

I've been jamming to Boston since 1976, but I'm going to throw out a little trivia for you. What offshoot band did former members of Boston start in 1983-1985? Former member's: Barry Goudreau(guitars), Brad Delp (backing vocals), and future Boston lead singer Fran Cosmo form? My guess is only a few people know who this is, and I will be presently surprised if there is more than a few! Also Michael DeRosier(former drummer from Heart) was a part of this. So You Ran got to #7 on Rock Radio and #58 on the Hot 100. So You Ran was aired on MTV as well. Please let me know if there are any fans out there. I love the album! Do check out "Take Me Home Tonight, The Man I'll Never Be, just a phenomenal band,..70's, renaissance , innovation, they didn't have the equipment of today,..but look what they did with what they had,..also ELO(Electric Light Orchestra), "Roll Over Beethoven ", originally done by Godfather of rock and roll Chuck Berry,..I love their version,..first album I bought of their's,.and I use to blast it like crazy, like Boston, they get you off kilter by starting out with what sounds like classical,..then they hit you over the head with an electric guitar,..and maybe as a nod ti Chuck, the guitar riff is just how Chuck use to play it,..sounds exactly the same,.if you haven't, check it. also, Nazareth, Hair of A Dog,..the album,..but the song itself, same name,..awesome,..hard driven,..Godspeed, Peace ✌

I'm just so happy that the youngsters of today can finally hear some real music instead of the junk that's been floating around for the last 30years.... Rock-On kids of the 60's & 70's ! In high-school 76' - 80' You could could find me every free period.... ( if I was in school 😉) In the library headsets on listening to all of these great 60's & 70's hits ! Now again they are coming back around, toss out today's musical trash & fire-up some classic Rock-n-Roll ✌😎

Hey Ryan, Delp's vocals are unsurpassed in any era of rock music, but I'd say it's the epitome of '70s classic rock more so than '80s.

What did you expect from an MIT grad? I was an early teen during this era. Even though I was a Floyd, Zep, Deep Purple fan there are probably 4 ALBUMS that were in every kids catalog: the first two Boston albums, AC/DC back in black, and Eagles hotel California. Boston was terrible live but we absolutely wore those albums out on our turn tables.
