Viggo was at our local co-op and a friend of mine who speaks fluent Elvish decided to approach him since they were both shopping there. So, my friend walks up to where Mr. Mortensen was speaking with some folks and signing autographs. He takes a deep breath and says in Sindarin "Man erin, Aragorn réd -o Arathorn, aran plural erain or erein -o Gondor", aka "Good morning, Aragorn son of Arathorn, high king of Gondor." Mr. Mortensen turns around grinning from ear to ear and says back "Man erin na cin, too, nin mellon."

A native speaker will surely find him out but really his accent is way better than "a Spaniard speaking French". My French is more fluent than his, still not perfect of course, but I find his accent rather amazing. I have Spanish/Catalan relatives and I speak Portuguese, so Spanish is not too far away. As far as I can tell, his Spanish accent is really good, which in itself is not so difficult as Spanish is a phonetic language. His English ... I let the audience judge. The folks of the north are usually pretty amazing at languages and accents in particular. His Danish is native and his Arab ... I can't tell.

Really? Yeah, he did a good job and the movie it was entertaining but it was about as vanilla washed out predict every moment of it as it could have been... really did nothing for me and found the entire movie completely unimportant even though I was trying to make a statement or show something about history... It's been done way way way better many times in the film world. But, he is awesome and I respect this guy from what I know!
@Xiaolongbaokid165 жыл бұрын
john-carlos ynostroza so you’re better than rotten tomatoes and roger ebert who critically acclaimed the film? Wow 😮. Really huh? Predictable how? Have you watched any movies about racism where a white guy was driving for a black guy? Tell me pls
@Xiaolongbaokid165 жыл бұрын
john-carlos ynostroza you have seen Malcolm X maybe. Or perhaps Amistad and 12 Years a Slave... so if you did, then tell me how different this Green Book film is from other films that discussed racial discrimination of black people. But this is like a breath of fresh air. C’mon man! You don’t know movies aren’t you?

Wikipedia: "Upon graduating, he lived in England and Spain, then moved back to Denmark, where he took various jobs such as driving trucks in Esbjerg and selling flowers in Copenhagen" Crazy to think that he has just been a random dude, and people on the streets in Denmark have been seeing a random truck driver (and some has bought flowers from him) without knowing that he's one day gonna play one of the most iconic roles in movie history.

His danish is excellent as well. You can actually hear what part of Denmark he lived. It's completely fluent but a little diluted, you can still hear the american in there in some places because he rarely speaks danish obviously. He basically sounds exactly like a danish person who has spend many years outside Denmark, speaking american english. Pretty crazy considering he didn't live in Demark for that many years.
