Sean Hardman, thank you for your interest and your comments. The Supreme Council approved the development of the new regalia. Color Corps Regalia followed the attires of the times closely and had military inspiration. Yes, there was some rejection of the new regalia ( specifically the beret) but has genuinely been accepted by knights and parishioners and public alike. Still today, many express admirations for the updating and appearance of the now 3 year old service dress. The photo of the Sir Knight Color Corps Commander you copied is Retired Colonel Joseph P. Cardona, USAF; former USAF Pararescueman who knows the meaning and the respect a beret means. His color corps Sir Knights wear their new regalia along with the issue with honor and distinguish. Bottom line, good men (knights) follow direction/orders from those appointed over them. The Supreme Knight along with his Council say this is the new color corps regalia (to include the wearing of the beret) and so we comply Faithfully. I’ve been in harm’s way for God and Country, I see there is no issue with the beret as long it is worn properly with honor and dignity.
