Cool story. I knew the girl I met in class was to be my wife the minute I laid eyes on her. I felt it without a doubt. The hardest thing I had to do was wait 3 years until she was ready for it. 8 years difference, I was 29 at the wedding. This year [God willing] we will have 50 years of growing alongside each other ... Yes, I will be 80 a couple of months after our anniversary.

I am soo super extremely sorry for your loss brother please keep your head up, I have somewhat been through something very similar and to be 💯 percent honest with you it never goes away, but over time it will kinda sorta slowly get a teeny/tiny bit easier to cope with. But again I'm very very very sorry for your loss, and just wake up every day and look towards the future instead of the past, one of the biggest reasons why the windshield in your car is so much bigger than your rearview mirror bud God bless and I'm sending prayers your way bro

I was 34 before I got married. I didn't have good luck with women before my wife. I even got a "Dear John" in boot-camp. I met my wife 5 months after discharge. I wasn’t a SEAL but I had just spent 3 years at the Amphibious Base in Coronado working with them and my head was in a bad place. No doubt, God put her in my life and it gave me a reason to pull my head out. We went for a walk and had a talk. She started checking things off on a checklist that I never knew I had. Almost 43 years together, still married after my family gave us 6 months. God knows what He’s doing!

I love these kinds of “how we met stories “. Finished my 1967-1971 active duty tour. Went home after my second WESTPAC deployment from VietNam. Enrolled at our local college on the GI Bill. Saw/met my “Dream Girl” at the student union. Got married in college. Still married at 49 years, 4 adult kids and 9 grandchildren and it’s still a blessing.

I was in the exact same head space when I first met my loving wife. After having my heart “broken” a couple times prior, I wasn’t hesitant to start another serious relationship. We were friends for a couple years. Then, as soon as it was clear we both had feeling for another, we both dove in head first. That was around July of 2000 and I can’t imagine my life if she wasn’t in it as my wife. It certainly wasn’t always easy, quite the contrary in fact. The best in life never is. There were even times I wanted to throw in the towel, god forbid. Today, I’ve never been happier and more fulfilled in my life and I owe my joy to her. Don’t give up, “the one” is out there and the hardest part isn’t even finding them; it’s being able to confront your unfortunate qualities, learn from them and then change or lose them in order to be the best person human being you can be. Funny, I was the one who went back and told my roommates that she was the one, after our first date. She was thinking more along the lines of "I've just got to make it to the third date and his ass is in my bed". 8 years of marriage, and a kid later, I was right (well, so was she). Also Shawn, love the way your wife tells the story. You can see how she lights up, and is reliving all of those feelings and emotions as she's sharing. It's super cool

Guys this one hits home, very similar situation with me and my wife. Didnt meet her on a gun range but we grew up together in South Florida(Bradenton, Sarasota) and i had just got clean and my wife excepted me for who i was. To this day we are about the share our 9th anniversary together and ive stayed 100% clean and sober. When you find a good one, DONT LET GO. So happy for you guys and the similarities blow my mind.
