This is one of the best operations I’ve seen on KZbin. It’s so interesting how you were able to incorporate a car float, idler car, and enough switching for two engines in such a compact space.

Glad you enjoyed the Concorde Branch. With its focus on switching, it has become a favorite for my operators. As you said, lots of fun in a small space. Thanks for your feedback!
@beeble20033 жыл бұрын
"enough switching for two engines" Except that, n these two videos, it seems that there's only ever one engine operating at a time: one works for a bit, then stops while the other works.
@Vigment133 жыл бұрын
@@beeble2003 Good observation ... but that's simply because I shoot the videos by myself. Hard to handle a camera and throttles for 2 switch engines at the same time! During op sessions, 2 switch engines and their operators are kept quite busy.

@@beeble2003 Not really, at least not in this video. Just a "gimmick" in the video to emphasize that the Concorde Branch is designed for two operators. And I gave them "A" and "B" names so I could keep them and their assignments straight. Gotta help out the ole memory, you know. :-)

As always, I enjoyed your new series of videos. This is a creative way to add more operations to a railroad that cannot expand further. You obivously have focus and attention to detail. What is the vinyl strip you use to hold the car cards while switching?
@Vigment134 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The Branch has been a lot of fun; has allowed me to try out a number of different modeling ideas/techniques plus add a whole lot of switching to the Willow Creek. The strip is a vinyl finish trim, used when installing vinyl siding. It holds 1 car card firmly and holds 2 cards tightly. Mine came (8' length) with about a 2" border/tail on it for nailing to a house; I cut off most of that tail using a table saw, leaving just enough to put a small screw in place to hold it to the fascia. Makes a really great work space for car cards and isn't expensive. Thanks for the question.

what size turnouts (and brand) did you use? didn't see mention of it on your website

Wow! You're definitely correct. Not sure how I forgot to mention that point. Anyway, I used Micro Engineering Code-83 #5 turnouts. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks for reaching out!

I feel like the Concorde branch should be a part of the SP&S railway with the ferry acting as a form of interchange. This would allow for a little bit more variety of small older engines
@Vigment132 жыл бұрын
I think that's a great idea. I already had the UPRR switchers when I built the Concorde Branch, so I automatically threw them into the roster. Wished I'd thought about the SP&S at that time. I've always considered introducing SP&S locos into the mix. Super idea! Thanks!

Nice video. How do you do the uncoupling? Is this somehow automatic, or are you editing out your use of a kitchen skewer to do the uncoupling?
@Vigment134 жыл бұрын
Ah yes ... the magic of video editing -- You are correct. I use the wooden skewer sticks to do uncoupling, except as you see in the video. In the video, I either edit out the uncoupling or have the couplers set to delayed uncoupling so you don't have to see my prototype-sized hands. Thanks for your feedback! Much appreciated.
