For those of you who didn't get her joke at 7:48, she is asking how one would find "x" in the equation "3^x = 4" She can use logarithms to solve it, which is the very thing that she is ignoring in class! XD
@robbmg9716
@robbmg9716 5 жыл бұрын
I think the wording "she can use logarithms to solve it" goes against the very spirit of her channel. Logarithms precisely ARE "solving that question". Whatever stupid historical name and notation we adopt for it.

The point of this video is exactly that. I've been watching this channel for so many years now and I never understood this fact. Im in 12th grade rn and the way the end of the video just hit me was a truly mind-blowing experience. I had this exact same reaction to so many videos of her. I know there's something I'm missing but I don't know what but when I get it it's the most satisfying thing ever!!!

"odd how dragons turn out to be exactly 2 dimensional" did you just mathematically disprove dragons?
@brandonstednitz8408
@brandonstednitz8408 9 жыл бұрын
+nevercallmebyname no, she mathmatically proved them
@nevercallmebyname
@nevercallmebyname 9 жыл бұрын
How did she prove them? She said they are exactly two dimensional which means the can only be viewed as a drawing or a TV special effect or part of a video game and there for that they don't exist. How did she prove dragons?
@gen157
@gen157 9 жыл бұрын
+nevercallmebyname So 2D things don't exist? Where's the logic?
@nevercallmebyname
@nevercallmebyname 9 жыл бұрын
ok, how about this way. our dimension is 3D. 2D things and 4D things cannot fully exist in our 3D dimension and thus if dragons are 2D they do not exist in our dimension which extends to mean that the ones described in heroic tales do not exist at all.
@gen157
@gen157 9 жыл бұрын
nevercallmebyname But until you've discovered everything in existance, you haven't disproved the existed of Dragons, either. Think of it this way. There is still no proof of God, yet there is no proof that there is no God either. Until everything is discovered, we won't know. 2D things can exist in our 3D universe, it's just we haven't found something that doesn't have thickness yet.

Though I agree, some might not. Many people think she talks too fast and during class people would constantly ask her to repeat what she just said and she couldn’t go off on tangents because of the curriculum. It would be much better if she were my personal tutor, which if you think about it, she is doing that in this video.

I remember watching this video series a couple years back (still in high school) and feeling like I understood so much. I've come back after so long because of a conversation mentioning fractals earlier today, and it's incredible just seeing how much I missed. All the frustration with math education and arbitrary notation from mixed fractions to multiplication symbols to logarithms, an incredibly accurate 2D projection of a 3D projection of a 4D tetrahedron, the sheer fascination with the beauty of math, the paradoxical nature of infinity, even name dropping the "long line"... I'm fairly certain I still don't understand everything in the video, but good lord, it makes me wish I majored in math.
