🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:00:05 *🌌 Infinity can mean different things, such as the largest number, the universe, or God, but in math, it simply needs to be larger than any finite number.* 00:01:00 *🔍 Countable infinity describes the concept of adding numbers infinitely, exemplified by counting numbers or fractions reaching a finite result.* 00:01:50 *✨ Aleph null is the first infinite cardinal number, representing countable infinity and enabling mathematical operations unique to it.* 00:03:00 *🔀 Ordinals, like omega, are ordered infinities where elements cannot be reordered, impacting how they combine and interact in calculations.* 00:04:15 *🔑 Uncountable infinities, such as the real numbers, represent collections that cannot be organized one-to-one with counting numbers.* 00:05:45 *🎲 Surreal numbers include every type of infinity and enable regular arithmetic operations, demonstrating the complexity of infinite sets.* 00:07:13 *❓ Hyper real and super real numbers extend the real number system to include infinitesimals, permitting unique division operations.* 00:10:34 *🌌 Projective geometry allows infinity to be treated as a distinct point, offering unique interpretations of infinite lines and space.* 00:12:59 *📏 The 'long line' in topology illustrates an infinitely long structure that cannot be compressed into a finite segment despite its length.* 00:13:58 *💭 Big omega represents an absolute concept of infinity, which remains theoretically interesting despite lacking mathematical consistency.* Made with HARPA AI

I have a faint memory of watching this video as a child and getting a whiff of what math really was... and then forgetting, the smell drowned out by rudimentary teachings that dulled my senses rather than enhanced. I forgot until recently, and now I remember the smell, and I never want to let it go again. I want to smell the beauty of the numbers, and I won't let it be drowned out by routine or the cold way that numbers are often represented. There's a lot of warmth there.

Found this watching vsauce’s playlist in 2024. This is actually amazing, I hope somebody else comes in and finds the video the same way and somehow finds this comment. The world is genuinely such an interesting and intricate place

Isn't this good enough? 1/9=.11111111.... just by division times 9 gives 1=.99999.... Seems airtight to me

You didn;t prove that 1/9 = 0.111..., you just assumed it.

The algorithmic, line by line answer is invalid because there is no input of 10 above the 9. That is, assuming the methodology is consistent and not switched up part way. I love the culturally derived fallacious assumptions angle, but I'm going to have to take a stand on this one 😄.
