Just a heads up: they can operate as a clamp you just have to remove the thumb screw at the top end, reverse the assembly, and insert it the other way; just watch out for the spring loaded tension in the handle (you have to keep pressure on the back part...see 731 Woodworks video for details). I found this out watching other videos on this product because I was thinking of getting one.

I tried it and it basically fell apart so I just keep them as spreaders

@@drdecks Yeah he mentioned it's REALLY difficult to get them to cooperate in clamp mode; I'd probably just keep them as a spreader/lifter as well.

I can already hear the howls of "OVERPRICED!" but they are obviously very high quality and rather unique. They'd earn their keep quickly in the right hands on jobs that required such "force-applicators"...

There are now newer designs online. They’re all metal and heavy duty. I can get 2 of them for under $80. Viking arm priced themselves out of the market.

I just bought 4 knockoffs by mistake on FB. They got me with the ad. I just sent them an email demanding they cancel my order. Good thing I used PP. I'll file a dispute if they don't cancel me.
