Congrats Ken! I'm very new to the DE community but I watched your videos closely and it inspired me to get into it. I was sick of cartridge razors, and how much money they cost. I dove and got some vintage Gillettes. They have been the best shaves of my life. My dad used one for ages and had handed down a shave brush to be 15 years ago that I never really used. Now I get to use it several times a week. On top of that, the first DE shave I used a Super Speed flair tip and my dad said it was identical to the one he used. I also got a blue tip because of your videos. A Tech and fat handle Tech round off my collection. Watching your videos has been an inspiration and made a real improvement in my life. Thank you, sir! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the great video! I just finished my first Gem Junior shave (a few minutes ago). I used the Gem-Persona blades, a sweet almond preshave, and Cremo original shave cream (my go-to when I don't have access to a brush). I found it to be a very comfortable shave, until I tried to go against the grain on my neck. Then, I nicked myself pretty good. (I should have headed your advice and gone slower.) But, where the razor really shone was shaving my head. The aggressive blade really cut quickly and that comb design meant that the razor didn't clog, even with longer hair. I doubt it'll replace my Parker for my face, but, I may switch from the 1920 Gillette open comb I've been using for my head. Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing the video, Ken. Congrats on hitting the 2K subscriber mark! I have several vintage GEM, Ever-Ready, and Valet single edge razors. The rigidity of the blades make these a different experience, as opposed to DE blades. The shave is almost like a straight razor on training wheels. CVS sells single edge blades made in Virginia by American Safety Razor Co. In my experience, they are very good blades. I may be a tad partial because I am from Virginia. ;)

Pretty nice, vintage razor. Before your story, I never imagined that candle stands can be like that. I certainly saw all sorts of unusual things on Halloween, but it's cooler. This seems a very thick and creamy soap.) As far as I understand, GEM is very aggressive and not forgiving razors.) Especially with modern sharp and thin blades. I can hear directly how this razor scratches and blows away the stubble. Congratulations with 2 thousand!

You're holding the razor at the wrong angle. Tip the handle up. The "door" should be flat against your face. Same angle as a Schick injector. Better angle than Gillette.
