It's definitely a love ballad, among other things. "Someone, in the tomorrow, is waiting for me. Someone to share the thief with, dust with a meaning, precious and rare." In other words, finding someone we can share our lives with on a deep level is what gives it meaning and makes it precious .

You are right these themes were not explored by Tuomas before, it was a radical change already in Endless Forms Most Beautiful album which went from fantasy themes to science and evolution. And this album picks it up from where that one left.

I love that line "Someone in the tomorrow is waiting for me". I see it as a potential future partner, but maybe that's not the intended interpretation. The part about 'someone to share the thief with' makes me think of someone to share time (the thief) with.

Endlessness is my favorite of the album (together with tribal). As soon as he starts singing "walk with me..." I start crying. That happens in every verse. I don't know what it is in his voice that gets me so much (knowing, that I'll probably never see him perform this life doesn't help, of course). I can't listen to this in public. Would be weird sitting in the bus and bursting out in tears all of a sudden. Rhapsody - The magic of the wizards dream might be the first metal CD I ever bought btw. I loved it so much because of the music itself and how good those two voices sounded together. One voice so clear and one voice sooo deep. Awesome. I remember getting curious because I didn't know Christopher Lee could sing and I am obsessed with deep voices. So I listened to it, ran to the store and got it. Good old times where you had to actually leave the house to buy music. But it was worth it, still have it and feel pretty old now.

Death my friend. A romantic concept of the End-lessness. "Someone in the tomorrow (The otherside) is waiting for me". The silent unseen stream is (Endlessness) where all souls go after death. To rejoin the energy of the universe. Did you see anything in the cloud shapes at the ending? Soothing and comforting and accepting of death and no Heaven or Hell. But, perhaps not the End?

Dear Viking, I've grown to love your NW videos. The insight is well thought out, and appreciation is genuine. I'm always in the minority, but I strongly recommend doing the Nature side (disc 2) as audio only. Yes, there is a fan video "that is Tuomas approved," but every reactor that does it gets sidetracked and distracted by the visuals they see vs. the visuals they're supposed to imagine from the music. Just a thought that I know you'll take into consideration.

Death, rebirth, death, the cycle, the endlessness of it all is my take. It is comforting and also again to me saying to use our time wisely and be with those we care about to share the time with as we will inevitably go. Love how you said it's somewhat predictable, then they do something you did not expect lol

Hi Viking, You squeezed in the last one of CD1, love your research, info, insights. The rocks hurtling through space (continued from Shoemaker) with the possibilities of bringing elements and fire for the creation (and destruction) of life. Those "orange" interstellar clouds are a bit like the "Pillars of creation", famous Hubble image of a birthplace of stars. If you haven't seen it yet, this might interest you (21:52): Maan Mainiot- Tuomas Holopainen Bio, (with english subtitles). Lots to discover and appreciate.

This song was somewhat harder for me to interpret. I also listen to this one less than the other songs of the album so I have other favorites but still very good because it's Nightwish :P I think it's about the circle of life that goes on and on -> endlessness. And I actually think it's some sort of duet between two forces, death and life. Mother nature and the reaper etc. And then they join each other as one force. Marko being death and Floor being life and then each have sang part of their story and then they join forces once and for all, but still with Marko as lead vocalist :) The cicle goes on and on -> endlessness.. Jup, it's Marko as lead vocalist :) Which is a beautiful way to remember this legend as part of Nightwish :3 Great reaction when you heard it was Marko :)

Viking Reacts - I'm here for all of it. Good to see you again with new Nightwish reaction. This is an incredible album. Often I think that thought is more important than knowledge. For what is accepted fact, knowledge, often is found later to be in error. Absolutes are rare. While thought continues. It is important, I think, that often this and other newer songs have a definite relationship to previous Nightwish lore. The miracle of Tuomas. While very enjoyable, there is a lot more to nightwish than just listening to their music.

Viking, I don’t know if you already explored Marko’s solo album Pyre Of The Black Heart. Great songs on that one and it shows Marko’s vocal abilities. Personally my favourite songs on that album are Stones, The Voice Of My Father, The Truth Shall Set You Free (beautiful ballad with great instrumental parts) and Death March For Freedom. Btw there is a Finnish version of this album that was first released and later on Marko made an English version of this album. Really worth a listen!
