Village Green - The Kinks (cover)

Ray Davies has the unique ability, with his songwriting skill, to make you feel nostalgia for places you've never been. And he can do it with the simplest ideas and very few words. Village Green is, perhaps, one of the best examples of this.
Here is my cover version of this great tune, my way of saying thank you to Mr. Davies - for this and for the many other timeless songs he has written.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

As soon as Hot Fuzz was over, I literally jumped on google to figure out what this song was. Was disheartened when Preservation Society kept popping up.

love that simplicissimus! about 2 minutes telling a whole life, our society today reflecting fantasy to reality imply hope including a lovestory! And all enclosed in a wonderful melody! Great work - so is the video - love it!

+Amoniak7 " Gawl darn it" is a way to say" God Damn it" without swearing. I think it is distinctly American and is very old fashioned.

It's about halfway through the movie when they're having the village party or whatever it's called. (Sorry, I'm an ignorant American and I haven't watched it in quite a bit) Movie is hella funny though. Then again, most Simon Pegg movies are great.

Hey Mike, excellent job!! Quality recording and the treatment was first rate. (like your cover of Red Rubber Ball as well, your affinity for 60's pop is spot on) I actually did a whole CD of Kinks covers, mostly the non hits, only posted Animal Farm on KZbin so far but plan to post more in the future. VGPS has been considered their best work by most fans, I couldn't agree more!
