If you'd paid attention to AC3's story, the Controller was basically the governing body of Layered and it sabotaged itself on purpose once the surface was habitable again so that humanity would be forced to leave Layered and live on the surface again. That's how the Silent Line ends up being discovered and why the rest of gen 3 isn't still underground in Layered.

[THEORY] I am conviced that AllMind isn't a "rougue IA". I believe it was hacked by Seria, Father Dolmayan coral cerebral anomaly. In the game, we see plenty of times Ayre hacking inumerous devices, even in the Fires of Raven ending (if you played it, you know it). Imagine an older Cerebral Anomaly, with more time to scheme and plot. Seria could merge herself with the AllMind Program and gather mercs for the release project, since her former host reject it.

No, ALLMIND didn't go rogue *at all*. She's doing exactly what she's supposed to do, with the merger of humans with Coral being the logical conclusion of her singular mission (ALLMIND is for all mercenaries). Her one job is to support the mercenaries, and what better way to do it than to forcefully evolve humanity (mercs included) into beings capable of becoming one with their machine so as to become even better mercs, and to insert herself into their heads to be a (forceful) guiding hand in all mercenary endeavor? That has been a trend in all the Armored Core games. AI that seemingly went rogue...didn't. They just reach the logical conclusion of their raison d'etre or they have a purpose unbeknownst to everyone else and had been executing it without anyone's knowledge.

No, she wasn't so much hacked or possessed and more along the lines of taking her directives to the logical extreme. ALLMIND's directives all point to helping humans. ALLMIND simply saw that helping humans involves Coral Release, seeing how there's a lot of potential within Coral for humanity's evolution.

I know this video was suposed to be short but i feel like Snail HAD to be in that. He is such a perfect character to hate. SPOILERS: Also, i wouldn´t call Walter / Rusty /Carla villans. They are antagonists in their respective endings for sure. But villans are evil. Wether by nature or by character development. Antagonists just go against what the Protagonist stands for. Rusty as an example, he is not evil, he is good natured, wanting to save his people, fighting for what is right and good. He is a spy in the arquebus company and is the best pilot the RLF has to offer and to keep that one advantage they have, he has to fight you. Ontop of it, you are a mercenary, going for the most money possible, therefore he is scared that the highest bidder will buy you to kill his people. Another reason why he would want to dispose of you. Like he said, and i am paraphrasing here:'What do you fight for? Power without purpose is dangerous, thats why i can´t let you live!' He is not evil, he is not a villan. He is and has, through his morality, fight against us for the safety of his people. Walter and Carla made massive mistakes in their past, letting an entire planet get burned to ash. And they obviously know how greedy corporations get. And rather then letting them have all that energy to kill more people, they´d rather destroy it all to not let this all play out again. They are jaded antiheroes. Good natured people who try to do the good but are willing to kill few so that many gets to be saved. Even Ayre, who is a Rubiconian, she is so similar to rusty. God imagine if she would´ve linked up with him instead of you. Which would not make sense since you use coral technology for your modification but dayum they´d marry eachother on the battlefield the same day they would meet. Iguazu, one of the only survivors of gen 4, your gen, just wants to be acknowlaged, he just wants to be better. He is more or less a teenager who wants to prove himself. He isn´t inherently evil, but his constant faliure slowly makes him into one. He is pethethic, he is someone worthy of pity, not hate. And yet... despite everything, he had Michigan. Someone who tried to look after him and gave him alot of credit while other people from balam made fun of him, shutting them down, telling him how Iguazu could fuck up all of them easily. He is a corporate mercenary who looks after his people. You could call them villans, but they are more complex then you´d think and more likable. Now V II snail... he is a TRUE villan. Devious, no regards for his coworkers, everyone is beneath him, uses every dirty trick to get an advantage. This might be semantics for some, but calling everyone a villan just because they are against you in one point or another is unfair to their characters.

Walter and Carla are right. They were protecting humanity. Cuz if the corps spread coral throughout the galaxy, then there is always a chance of a galactic scale fires event. Killing everything. Spoilers. Also they are right in not letting the coral convergence happen because that's the end of human. We all become Coral. No more progress. No more anything. That's the end of our evolution. We are just Coral floating on the breeze. Peace? Sure. But you could also consider it a quiet death. Because what does it mean to be alive if you don't progress, if you don't struggle, if you don't feel anything? If you are just existing? Walter Tells 621 he will give him a reason to exist. That's in stark contrast to what happens at the very end in that last ending. Everything becomes Coral. There is no longer a reason to exist.

I will be elaborating on a lot of things in my eventual "Armored Core 6 Expereince" videos, but I totally get why you wouldn't call them "villains". I'll just have to see when I actually get around to make all of my video ideas...

Rusty? definitely not a villain. At most he is pretending to be one, when he is works as a double agent inside of arquebus. But Walter? Totally villain. Trying to fulfill "My friends wishes", kind off doesn´t cut it, as justification for committing gen*´cide. And Carlas/ the Institutes fear of loosing control over the coral? even worse justification.

@@LoneWolfInsane Both of the worked for the institute and i belive that Walters friend was one of them who died in the fires of ibis who realized what they had done is wrong. Ontop of it, Walter tries to actualy help you getting rich and getting away all those modifications to have a normal life. He respects your choice and tells others to respect you. He is happy you finally find something to fight for, finaly finding a friend. He is a completly fucked up character who only knows misery but he treats people around him well and doesn´t care for his own health. Even Carla stated that she asked for his well being while he ignored it and talked about us. What he tries to do is absolutely wrong. But he is so scared of what happens if he doesn´t stop it that he does something he does not want to do. It´s not that Walter and Carla are scared that they won´t have control over the coral, but rather that the weapons of mass destruction that can be made from them will fall into the wrong hands. Which is why they rather destroy it then have that happen. And we see how Snail behaves, we see what corperations are willing to do to gain power. We see first hand that this reality they fear can happen.

@@jericohellsangel594 if you are going to talk about the story of the game, then you should at least pay attention to what is being said in the game. It is made pretty explicit that Walter did not work for the institute, as he was a kid at the time, being the son of one of the research assistants.

In regards to the controller, it most likely didn't go crazy for no reason. It could have been designed to go crazy to encourage humanity in Layered to destroy it so it could fulfill its final directive and finally allow humanity back to the surface. Hell it could have itself decided the only way to convince humanity to go back to the surface was to cut humanity off from itself by having humanity destroy it.

Nineball isn't rogue AI, they never rebel against raven's nest and fulfill their duty of pruning ravens they deemed too strong and dangerous until the very end Likewise allmind isn't rogue AI either. Her primary directive is to support all sort of mercenaries and she simply found out that she can spread her awareness by participating in coral release and thus better support even bigger number of mercenaries. Allmind's very fallible however and that makes her really adorable

Rusty is a simple man. He's RLF's double agent and only wants the corpos to get out of Rubicon. Now, OVERSEER, PCA and Iguazu are anti-villains. Walter and Carla are this because of their interactions with the player, their rough past and The Fires of Raven ending, despite of being much as atrocious as the ACFA Destruction ending, makes everything certain, unlike Liberator and Alea Iacta Est endings. PCA are essentially space police. And Iguazu is... pathetic on biblical scale, he deserves pity. The real villain of ACVI is Snail. He has an ego as big as Iguazu's and is pretty open about not giving a shit about other Vespers. In fact, he rants on his own high command and calls himself to be Arquebus (which is partially correct). Recognising you as a threat is physically impossible for him, let alone as a person. Freud hanging up on him was a W moment. For other rouge humans, there's Jack-O in Last Raven, the former head of Raven's Ark, the mercenary medium organisation in Nexus and the leader of Vertex. And you're wrong about Joshua in AC4: it's widely speculated that Omer Science Technology persuaded him to attack Anatolia. And in For Answer, there's Orca, which's leader, Maximilian Thermidor, is actually Otsdarva and is apparently a double agent for the League and it's hinted to be a set up made by the League to get rid of all "irregulars" in one shot. That doesn't make Otsdarva himself to be a rouge human per se, but only his "underlings". It's just that that it either ends in succeed, backfires, or goes horribly wrong specifically because of you.
