I swear, 99% of super villains that try arguing “if I do this horrible thing, things will be better” are typically either insanely diluted or just stupid. I’m not saying they’re not interesting I am just saying the moment you begin thinking about their plan, you realize how little they thought it through .

@@timechanger6679 Generally, the biggest problem with a lot of villains' plans that prevent future suffering cause a lot of it in the moment. It's diverting the trolley to hit five people because it means you won't hit ten people down the line instead of doing anything to genuinely try to stop the trolley.

When you think about it, the Reality Stone alone should've been able to create the resources that Thanos wanted for the universe. I mean, he says in Infinity War, "Now reality can be whatever I want." And since Thanos claims to be an enlightened altruist with "It's a simple calculus. This universe is finite, its resources finite. If life is left unchecked, life will cease to exist." But with the Reality Stone making reality whatever he wants, you'd think Thanos would be able to bypass that. In some aspects, Thanos' plan is inherently flawed.

Thanos may have been right that just generating more resources wouldn't be possible, especially as life expands exponentially faster there more of it there is. However, the problem can't just be to erase half of it, since the problem would just start over again a few generations down the line. Most "burn it down" efforts end up this way, since they leave a hole that will be filled by what's left behind. Meanwhile, slowing the growth of the universe, or removing the need for consumption entirely might actually be helpful or achievable with the power of the gauntlet, especially with the ability to just reset the universe like Endgame Thanos was gonna do.

I think it's because Thanos has a god complex, both in the MCU and the comics. He's obsessed with power and uses various justifications to excuse his very terrible ideas and actions.

@@gigas115 MCU Thanos, in his hubris, believed that his solution is the only one that will make the universe "better". Supposedly trying to reduce suffering is besides the point. He is an insane, power hungry individual. He wants to eliminate untold billions of lives without a care for those who remain. If MCU Thanos truly wanted to make the universe better, he wouldn't kill half the universe, because that wouldn't do anything besides delay the inevitable.

1:43, In theory, a villain determined to get rid of heroes and villains (or just any supers or powered beings in general) in an effort to create world peace could be compelling if well written. Imagine a character so fed up with the constant back and forth of heroes fighting villains, killing them or in the worst of circumstances, creating them and vice versa (like Burton’s Batman and Joker creating the other). And so they set out to make sure anyone that has the potential to become super (superpowered or super-skilled) is eliminated so they can’t create chaos for normal people. And with the state of comics in particular constantly recycling characters and stories or filling their world with all kinds of supers battling it out across their universes, a character like this could be a perfect commentary on them and how stagnant they can become.
