Villiers Carb clean and setting governor and refitting.

I have worked on a lot of Villiers engines over the years and found the best way to oil the air filters is to rinse them in two stroke mixture, when the petrol evaporates it leaves a thin film of oil on the wire mesh filter. Some of the realy old ones even say to rinse in petroil which is what two stroke mixture used to be refered to as.

Great governing episode ! Yes I have a Detroit diesel that starts full throttle, and Perkins same , only the governor closes throttle , always check before start , to prevent run away , even basic Listers you actually adjust the governor not the throttle , strange but true ,

Thread may be 1/4" BSPT male. The corresponding female is usually a parallel thread.

I think all you had to do to take the carb off, was to undo the screw on top of the govnor arm & carb linkage .
