The song is about not having a firm belief on a subject in either direction. One belief is the “white” and the other is the “black.” The gray is the idea that there’s something between the two opposite beliefs.

I've always thought the song was about growing to learn the value of nuance and understanding that things aren't always as simple as we'd like them to be. Things don't always have to be one way, or the other. Sometimes things aren't inherently right OR wrong. Sometimes in life, there are shades of grey in between. And there's a lot of understanding and wisdom to be gained from learning to accept and acknowledge these grey areas. I feel like that's part of the reason things in America are so tense right now. We have as a society forgotten the importance of understanding, and have settled into this rigid structure of "my opponents are evil because their beliefs don't align with my own, and mine are the only right or righteous beliefs." I'm with Vin on this one. Right on my man.

I would love love LOVE to see you reach to Rishloo's Dark Charade from their Living as Ghosts with Buildings as Teeth album. As a PK come from conservative, Calvinistic theology this song and LaGwBaT as a whole hit me like a ton of bricks.

Vin, you speak about puritans being slave owners, and while that's understandable if your idea of puritanism comes from colonial America, it's not really the same puritanism that influences most of modern Reformed churches. Yes, the British colonists came from English puritans, but the vast majority of the puritans who are read today (Owen, Bunyan, Watkins, Perkins, Sibbes, Keach, Rutherford, Henry) are the English or Scottish puritans who, by and large, weren't slave owners. Some of them even condemned slavery in their writings, such as in Rutherford's "Lex Rex," which is probably the best known puritan work on the topic of civil justice. Edwards and Whitefield lived about a century after what I would call the age of the puritans, and so I don't even list them among the ranks of those others I named.

@@misstelvanni I'm actually on Discord and a member of the Epic Underground alliance and just joined Sin & Glory alliance. I requested two songs on the Sin & Glory current poll and see how things go with that. Gives me an idea of what kind of bands those members really want to hear. After the outcome of that poll it depends if I stay a little longer or unsubscribe. I understand they have a right to charge whatever they want and provide for their big family. I have to provide for my family as well and just can't throw that kind of money out there. It sounds like the can't even keep up these money reactions and the other request are being pushed aside. There's got to be a way where it benefits everyone and not just a select few. Not trying to complain but just putting an idea out there so everyone can eventually gets there song heard.

I read a lot of the Puritans (something I'd highly recommend). They were people in Britain who were fighting to get rid of the medieval Roman Catholic traditions and return to pure Biblical worship and.

@@Metal_Auditor Might give it a shot, but I have always believed that the Bible is the only true way to salvation and the way to salvation is explained where anyone can understand. History how things in religion change, but the Gospel never changes.

Possibly the most useful single work by any of them is Matthew Henry's commentary on the whole Bible. It's available for free online and also has free smartphone apps for both iOS and Android.
