gmzaka I’m not even a specific religion, mostly agnostic because I don’t worship anything but I believe the possibility of everything. An underlying believe I have is simply that we must love each other as people, we are all together as a species, without race or believe we are all spiritually powerful when the potential is unlocked. I believe in a way we are gods, we die and we are released unto the multiverse beyond, which can hold anything, gods, demons, aliens, it is all a possibility.

Basically, that church, those priests and that ritual represent Christianity blinding and taking away all the wealth and real beauty of her. To me it's her as innocence, running from the wolf (The faith), is search for an answer. She finds it through a long and painful process by diving into "darkness" (The opposite of the faith), and accepting that her entire life were revolving around lies (That's what I get from the song, not what I personally think). So now, with her knowledge, she is free to become "not innocent": She is looking powerful, eventual, menacing, confident... And the wolf ("the faith"), sees that it lost the battle and walks away.

she enters an abandoned church, where they give her some ostias and drink a wine; she vomits it and starts to writhe from the pain, to get thorns, and to transform herself, then they cut her hair; until this part, it is an analogy of what Nergal suffered in his illness, he had many sessions of chemotherapy, in them, he lost all his hair, he mentions that he felt body aches, as well as a lot of pain for his vomiting, which were very frequent

In this video Nergal plays the guy carrying the sheep. He is dressed as the character of Odin, the head of the Norse pantheon, which is a set of symbols he uses frequently (Odin has a lot of character elements that synchronize well with Satanism). Traditionally, Odin is accompanied by two wolves. So the girl may have been depicted as running away from her pagan roots (the wolf and Odin), but into the embrace of the church, which then corrupted and defiled her. If you look at the shots of the wolf, it is never baring its fangs, snarling, or attacking, it is just kind of watching serenely, so I don't think it is menacing the girl. The wolf survives and is waiting for the girl to come back to it, if she ever escapes the church.
@PlatonistAstronaut Жыл бұрын
As someone that worships Othin (and many others) this comment really annoyed me. It's not even slightly accurate. Othin has nothing whatsoever to do with Satanism and isn't remotely compatible with it (either in secular Satanism or theological Satanism). I've no idea where you got this notion from. He also isn't traditionally accompanied by two wolves. He simply has two wolves in some stories. He also has two ravens in some stories. He lacks both much more than he has either.

I'm basing this off of my limited knowledge of symbolism, my perspective as an atheist, and what I've read about Nergal's views on spirituality. The wolf is typically associated with Satan. Virgin's and sheep are associated with innocence. What I think the message of the video is innocent people fear the dark or the wolves (Satan) and turn to religion to feel safe from the dark but that religion strips them of freedom (All the religious symbols flashing on her face give me the idea that those demonic priests represent all religions). She vomits the blood/ wine up because it's an unnatural thing but the priests force it back down. In the end she's transformed into a grotesque image of an angel (angels comes from greek angelos meaning messenger) and she blows the trumpets which Gabriel does to indicate the Lord's return to Earth. I think the man holding the sheep is a shepherd (and is another image of the priests as the sheep is the virgin) not the wolf. The shepherd kills the sheep every time but when wolves attack wild animals they only kill a couple and most get away. TL;DR It's just a really poetic/ grotesque/ provoking way of saying religion is a contamination of the spirit and people run to it because they fear what hides in the dark which is a fear that's blown way out of proportion. The lyrics are more of an antihymn so the video doesn't match the lyrics. So you guys are on the right track.

Also, there are Christian Black Metal bands (the genre is called Unblack Metal). There are tons of good Christian Metal bands out there: Theocracy, Underoath, Demon Hunter, Skillet, P.O.D., Love and Death, and Red are just a few of them. Symbol meaning: The symbol of a fire triangle with three arrows pointing outward represents the “Perfect Red King,” the Sulfur of the Philosophers. In alchemy, sulphur represents Sol, the fiery male element that counters Luna, mercury, or the female aspect. Chemically, the red sulfur was a mixture of mercury (spirit) and sulfur (soul), the marriage of which also represented the spiritual goal of alchemical work.

Alonso Tarango mr. Mustaine is Dave Mustaine, lead vocalist and guitarist of Megadeth. Lately (he became a born again christian some years ago) he has been refusing to play with certain bands and also some of megadeths old songs because of "satanic" influence or "black magic" etc. I think if he was really as strong in his faith as he claims, he wouldn't shy away from these people. As jesus chilled with hookers and theives, I think believers need to set their standards a bit lower and not reject people just because they've "found a better path". Hope that makes sense.
@alonsotarango34866 жыл бұрын
Derek Fletcher, yeah, I know what you are referring to, and it is the perfect example of these certain type of christians, they did all kinds of fucked up shit in their early days, and now that they are "saved" they feel that, and their past experiences gives them the right to judge people, I feel Mustaine is an ego maniac, and as so, couldn't stand the fact that other bands are at this moment way better than what Megadeth is putting out, and it probably kills him that these bands are Atheists, or Satanic

I've always been christian because I was born this way. Now I am christian because I have true faith and logically experienced God's plan (no mental illness there). Growing up, I faced the same problem as you with closed minded christians. I still do. But I gave it another chance and I met truly openminded people, christians or atheists. You shouldn't rely your faith on what people do or tell you to do but on God Himself. And what I found out with my own experience is that faith is not a matter of closing your eyes and throw yourself into the void waiting for God's Hands to save you... It is about opening your eyes, take a step back, opening your heart and follow the path of love. I am a christian. I LOVE metal. I can listen to it all day and for those who would tell me I am wrong to do so, the ones who are judging : please be humble. There is only one existing truth : God. I dare not say I know the Truth. How dare you ?

God is in us always. Has been there since birth its up to you to get close to god. I grew up in a Baptist church I left because of exactly what was said in the video. We had a divided church the devil is in the choir lol so true. I study theology on my own I pray with my wife and children we read the bible I study scripture i meditate on scripture. Meditation is not of satan its not evil to meditate. Jesus meditated fasted thats where god is.

When i first came across this channel I absolutely said "oh just what we need, more religious people tellings metal bad, jesus good" but this is the 8th or 9th video ive found myself watching and i have to admot you give a extremely fair judgement from lyrical, to mythological, to musical on everything and have a willingness to learn what you dont know. I truly appreciate this. From a pagan: Keep it up guys.

I'm an atheist but this is becoming one of my favourite youtube channels. You should listen to De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, from Mayhem, and maybe some Antestor, a christian black metal band from Norway.

Or Rapture,, Where The Slime Live, Blessed Are The Sick. I love all their stuff but Garden Of Disdain would probably be the most challenging for Christian viewing especially as it's subject matter is religion that is much older than Christianity or any of the other current globally practiced religions. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWKZYZ2Nh89-edE

This is so refreshing that you guys have an appreciation for metal. I myself am a Christian too. But I feel a bit scared to be myself openly when it comes to the music I like. Since I am a big fan of Thy Art is Murder and I do like black metal as well. Since Christian’s can be the most judgy and they might think I’m a hypocrite. So your channel makes me smile 😀 Thank you for your channel guys.

I want to make a quote book/blog from many of the things you say in your analysis and discussion parts of these videos. There are so many lightbulbs moments. Amazing stuff guys i just discovered you today, i admit i thought it was a bit of click bait joke, but i am glad i clicked! i am so impressed and inspired, and i been listening intently to your discussions. My and my boyfriend sit and have discussions like this normally over religion, music, politics and just - life. Its great to see others doing it too with such open mind-ness. Wish everyone could be this open minded. Solve so many shitty issues that should never be issues in the first place.

In one of your previous videos on Behemoth, you spoke of the idea of the whole Satanist album being a middle finger to the Christian society in Poland after the Christian activists took their chance to take an advantage of Nergal's disease and mock a man on his death bed; the things may be actually completely the other way round. This album, though conceived a long ago, as Nergal stated, was recorded after Nergal got better, and the funny thing is that being driven to Gdansk Haematology Clinic, what Nergal was expecting was a miserable death in oblivion mocked by the Christians feeling triumphant, the reality was (which may have contributed to Nergal's remission -- that, and the marrow translplant, of course) an enormous and unexpected (to Nergal) amount of support he received from Behemoth fans. So, thinking about this record, you should keep in mind that it has been recorded by the band whose frontman had his faith in people reinstated, and it has, I believe, pretty much less shock and offensive content than the earlier records: Antichristian Phenomenon, Christians to the lions, Slaying the Prophets of Isa, Christgrinding Avenue -- to name the few. Cheers!

That wolf, man it saddens me deeply. The expression on his face, almost disappointemnt. The true symbol of the spirit of wilderness, of nature. Very similar to us humans. The girl, she was actually dehumanised, transformed into this...creature. Those "wings" she wears are such powerful visual element. This entire video is mindblowing. The very contrast between the forest- a natural wild and free domain from where we came from and the man made building (church like). It is funny how through the ages, wolf and the concept of the "dark forest" became symbols for that which is not in the domain of God. Wolf itself is demonised. Such a beutifull creature of nature. That wolf, especially at the end, makes me cry. As if he is sad for us. Our own true nature left behind... Thank you guys for sharing this!

I grew up Christian and then my brother died when I was 12, I filled myself with anger and range and basically turned full force away from Christianity and blamed/hated God.. I turned to Satanism and remained a satanist until around age 24, my sister took me (cold hearted satanist dressed in black) to a Billy Graham convention in Southern California and I got saved.. Basically what I'm saying is, I went from Christian to Satanist to Christian... I listened to all metal, black metal, and satanic metal and understand every word and meaning. Even though now I try to avoid it because it "can" be a gateway to Satan.. Anyway, keep doing what you're doing! This music is beautiful in it's own twisted way. Much love ✝️✝️✝️
