When Vince Gill was breaking out in country he had some fierce competition . I remember Travis Tritt , John Anderson , Leroy Parnell , Marty Stewart , Mark Colley and many more that slips my mind at the moment . Vince did just fine I thought and we would hear of him for a long time and we have . I'm 2 months shy of 65 years of age I'm still learning just how good he is , when he takes off on lead guitar licks my God get out of his way . I didn't realize just how bad-ass he was on the guitar and I am a very good listener of music . Also he is one the most honest , humble and sincere person that I've heard talk about his life's journey , the ups and downs that one can just see that he's the real deal . This music world is better with him in it , not to many like him these days . Once again a very impresseive guitar player and singer .

@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum When I first heard that Vince Gill was the addition to the Eagles I must admit that I was a bit skeptical . Then I saw Vince playing with Eric Clapton at one of Crossroads shows my skepticism disappeared . Basically all of the Eagles sing so I didn't worry Vince in that department for some reason it was his guitar abilities that concerned me and I don't know why . He's a good choice for the Eagles and I believe what he said when he was just trying to help them not as the new Glenn Fry but as a musician and long time friend . All I know about Deacon Fry is that he looks just like his daddy especially in the 1977 Montreal concert they could have been twins . I knew about Pure Prairie League but I didn't know Vince was a member . The main song I remember from them was the song Amy which was a bit hit for them . My three favorite bands of my lifetime are Eagles , Credence Clearwater Revival and Bob Segar and Vince Gill would've been an asset to any of three without a doubt in my opinion . I'm new to your channel Joe and so far I'm liking it , a good source of information and history . Keep up the good work .

What I like about him is his ability to look at the bigger picture and also his tolerance. I’ve heard him say things like it’s okay if I’m not somebody’s cup of tea, we don’t all like the same things and that’s okay. I just adore him!!

OMG! Vince, your voice and musicianship is so endearing. I play classical, but being just South of Nashville, I have so enjoyed your music all these years. I don't believe there is another country song that brings me to tears every single time like your solo version of your "Rest high on that mountain." I am so amazed at your humility. That is the most refreshing trait that anyone could EVER have. Thank you so much for such wonderful music! Thank you Joe for allowing us in on such brilliant interview. 👏👏👏

How could anyone ever give Vince a thumbs down, beyond me. World class musician, recognized not just in country music, but across the entire recording industry. As far as Vince being a part of the Eagles, have to believe what he said Don said, wouldn't have done it with anybody but you. Always been a big fan of Vince as well as the Eagles, we went to the Eagles concert In Dallas February 2020, Unfortunately mom passed away during that concert, found out about it when Vince was doing "Take it to the Limit", we were in the second row on Steuart Smith's side of the stage, snapped a pic (Don was glaring at someone else), moment I will cherish forever. We have tickets for Eagles in Phoenix September 2021 (hope it happens), front row should be right in front of Vince, hoping I can get a guitar pick (Yeah I play some and have a Tele, Strat, PRS SE and a few others but I just noodle around from time to time.) Great interview from one of the humblest guy's on the planet.

Superb interview! You do a great job with all these, I've watched. The "less is more", kinda thing Vince spoke of, you also apply to your interviewing style & it works, well. Vince has always come across as genuinely humble. He, Marty Stuart & Wade Hayes are 3 guys off the top of my head, who I truly admire, because, even though they're artists in their own right, they could set in with any band in any honkytonk & fit in as a sideman & still dig it. It's all about the music, to guys like them & that is rare.

I’d never heard Vince’s complete back story! Love it! I didn’t realize how close he was with Rodney. Funny thing...I’m from the same town as Rodney was & went to church with his parents when I was in high school (long time ago...80’s)! In fact, Mr. Crowell taught my husband (then my boyfriend of course!) to play the guitar in church! They were such sweet people. I guess it’s true how small the world actually is!! Forget “6 degrees to Kevin Bacon”, I think we all qualify for that game! Many blessings!

@@corrinagrantgill3236 Wow, thank you for asking !! I'm embarrassed to say, I'm late to the musical party. 3 separate videos put me squarely in his camp. He had recently joined the Eagles, and I was amazed at how good he sounded and how easily he fit into this superstar group. ( with his bandmates massive egos, I give him all the credit in the world ) Soon after that I was playing my EC Crossroads festival from 2013. His playing with Albert Lee on "I Ain't living Long Like This " was the highlight of that whole CD. Soon after that I watched the interview with Joe Chambers and as I mentioned, I was so impressed with his honesty, candor and sense of humor, that I was blown away. In that video he mentioned an anecdote from his performance during the 2004 Crossroads festival. He mentioned that he was worried how he would be receiving by the R&R crowd. Well, I watched his performance and once again I was blown away by his performance, his band his enthusiasm. I must have played his song 3 times in a row!! So, if you have some personal favorites to recommend , I'll track them down and give them a listen. How can I go wrong! Once again, thanks for your reply. Alan Riley - a somewhat new convert.

You can listen to one of Joe’s interviews ,and not use the terms -adjectives - informed, and humble. This interview with Vince is beyond insightful. I know I use the word humility in every reply I ever write when referring to his interviews, and guests. Vince Gill saying he felt he was in over his head in respect to some people he’s played with. As he said you want to be the at the bottom of the players in any given situation because you learn something from others . That’s what makes him one of the best cross genre players. Nobody is that humble in this day,and age. Music has dummied down, and the “performers” suffer from hubris to a degree I can’t fathom. All these Nashville Cats have paid their dues, and if you think you’re gods gift to musicianship, go to Nashville , you’ll get a wake up call to reality at warp speed. These guys are the real deal with no artifice ... Kudos -once again - to Joe Chambers for being the best there is . Musician to musician tete a tete , the fly on the wall interviews like no other ...

I have three county artists that I like and sometimes listen to, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and Vince Gill!! I’d heard of Garth back in the nineties but wasn’t someone who listened to his music. I started listening to country music about three years ago; prior to that I only heard the occasional song here and there on the radio. But what I love about those three artists are they are regular people- they don’t have this entitled air about them very down to earth!! Love Vince Gill!!

@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Gosh, Britt, my heart grieves for you and your family upon reading that. Sorry I was so late to the party, but I feel privileged to have come across this. I'm a Memphis raised guy (moved away decades ago), so I was all about Al Green, Rufus Thomas, Booker T and the MG's, Isaac Hayes and all that great Memphis sound (and I grew up within a 1/2 mile of Graceland, so there was that factor, too. However, when I met my eventual wife, a Texan, she was a "Nashville Sound" girl, and she helped transform me into someone who aspired to be a Grand Ol' Opry connoisseur (and, yes, I had to look up the spelling of that word). Moved to Houston in '89 and where she and I found ourselves (and later all our children) at the Livestock Show and Rodeo for two weeks every February, where I saw her musical heroes, who eventually became mine -- including Vince! Take care and God bless!
