I saw Vince with the Eagles in Feb 2023. I’ve seen the Eagles, 3 times prior with Glen Frey. My seats were closer to Vince than any other member on this particular night. He was on fire. Having a ball. Vocally fit the songs perfectly. I’m so thankful there are down to earth musicians like Vince out there.

I love Vince’s humble nature in knowing that he isn’t Glenn and that he himself doesn’t want to sing “new kid in town” but that he wants to do his part in “keeping this thing rolling.” I love that statement because without talented musicians like Vince, music like The Eagles would someday never be performed again. I must say I am very pleased that you joined and once again Don’s instincts were 100% spot on. You are humble and appreciative of the opportunity and I am so glad you have enjoyed the success. I also love you and Amy as a couple. In this day and age of turmoil in relatIonships you two are a great role model of what can be. I went to see the Eagles (with Vince Gill) at Reunion Arena in Dallas several years ago. Being from Oklahoma and a country connoisseur, I've always been a big Vince Gill fan...so I was excited to see him perform with such an iconic band. As I listened to every song, absolutely glued to my seat, I wondered, who was most in awe? Is Vince thinking "wow, I can't believe I'm performing with the Eagles" or are the Eagles thinking "wow, we've got Vince Gill on stage with us". It was an incredible concert. The best I've seen yet. In my opinion, they couldn't have chosen a better voice or musical talent.

Vince is one of those guys who is so dang good, and so humble he is able to step up on stage with The Eagles and know exactly why he is there...but not make a big deal out of it...just do what he can to make the music live. I think that Don Henley knows that, and knows that Vince has nothing but respect for what The Eagles mean to a lot of us. All of these facts are part of why they seem to have melded together so effortlessly. There will never be another Glenn Frey, but the music...the music we love still has a home, and that is a good thing.

Love this man! I’m a lifelong metalhead and really don’t respect any modern, popular country artists, but Vince is on a totally different level than almost any artist in any genre. His musicianship is world-class. There is no better guitarist on the planet. And his voice is pure and his writing is elegant and beautiful. But his soul is what really sets him apart. I was watching an Eagles concert on TV for 30 minutes before I realized he was in the band. This is a guy that can tower over anyone on a stage and he just sat back and honored the songs. To be that great and that humble at the same time... it’s basically unheard of. I really can’t say enough. Thanks for posting this video.

I was going to post but your post expressed what I feel about Vince Gill. I hate most country music but always loved the Eagles and CCR and others (in "rock"), and also loved Randy Travis, Vince Gill, John Anderson, Brad Paisley and tons of others who are sincere. Too many to mention. I'm a huge Beatles fan and love Zeppelin and any great rock music. Pink Floyd and all that, but I have my country side, and Vince is one of my favorites.

@@PlanetRockJesus I agree completely..! I too am a lifelong metalhead, but I do have an appreciation for some of the classic country artists (Martina among them..!) and Vince Gill is truly in a class by himself, both musically an d as an individual. He has always gone out of his way to help young artists coming up, and has appeared as guest on more albums than I can count. Truly an awesome guitar player, singer and songwriter, and an amazingly humble man. And now playing with the Eagles..? They are very lucky to have such a talent as Vince. Check out the stuff he did with Alison Krauss and the fairly recent performance he did with Carrie Underwood of How Great Thou Art.

So funny! I three, or 4, whomever chimed in as a metalhead, am a metalhead too...lol! However, my first love was the Eagles, before I discovered Sabbath, etc. Also, liked me some Poco, Marshall Tucker and a little Pure Prairie League which led me to Vince Gill, when he later joined in 79 or 80, on to his solo stuff. Then to come full circle! So, after some heaviness with some Pantera or Lamb of God, it’s sometimes nice to wind down with the soothing sound of Vince Gill.🤘🏼

@paulmucci5668
@paulmucci5668 10 ай бұрын
They didn’t “get rid” of Meisner. He quit the band. He and Glenn Frey had a very heated disagreement over Meisner’s refusal to sing Take It Too The Limit because he struggled to hit the high notes. After Hotel California, Felder wanted an equal profit split and tried to get Joe Walsh to go along with his stance against Henley and Frey. That was the beginning of the end for Felder.
@sheilamorgan3845
@sheilamorgan3845 10 ай бұрын
@@paulmucci5668 Randy had said after he and Glen got into it none of them would talk to him. They would not hang out with him. I believe that. That is what happened when Felder left . Him and Walsh were great friends. After the two dictators fired Felder that was it between him and Joe Walsh. That makes me think DH and GF had told Walsh not to talk to Felder. They did the same thing to Randy. Randy said nearing the end of the tour it was hell. Felder should have gotten an equal split on Hotel California. He wrote the music and melody and Henley wrote the words and they both sang on the record. When they signed a contract Felder was suppose to be an equal partner. So was Randy and Bernie. Seems only 2 got that. DH and GF. They were bullies. We all know the story about Hotel California. Randy had been telling them it was hard for him to sing those high notes. But like Randy said. Just let it go.

I agree and I like an artist much better when they don’t try to imitate the original singer. Especially in a case like this, where it’s the same band, so it’s not a cover version of a song. Entirely different situation, but I do love it when an artist covers a song and totally makes it their own through style, arrangement or what have you. One of the best examples of that imo is the late, great Chris Cornell covering “Billie Jean”.

Agreed Larry. I have viewed the eagles when they first hit the big time in the early 70s as the best band (never mind guitar band) in pop history. It was a sad day for me and millions of others when Glen died and as good as Vince is, I dont think they will ever be the same again. Sorry to say but they need to let Glens son go. I also think Don is past his best and if Vince steps up and does more vocals the better would come from it. And a few more of Vince doing solos. And dont forget those harmonies, Vince can more than replace glen in that department. In the years since Glen passed away no group in any field has come close to what was the eagles. Sigh. BTW I am a retired guitarist age 77 but have the experience to offer these thoughts. I really do miss them as they were .

Vince Gill is one of my favorite people in this world, like Willie Nelson, two of the most wise and humble people that ever graced the earth!! Vince and Willie are both like my lost Dad, (grew up without a father) but their music and humility taught me so much about what life is really all about, family, country and patriotism. But most of all treat folks the way you want to be treated regardless of race or religion or any of the things people use for excuses! That's what I heard Willie say in an interview once and it stuck with me forever ( as it should)! 😉😇😇 Love watching Vince tell stories about his past experiences in life... makes you realize when you sing from your heart and not your brain the songs always hit harder over the airwaves!! 😉😇 Quote from Vince in an interview! BOTH Living Legend's!!

Vince is actually a great choice to be in the Eagles. He’s a veteran highly skilled singer who’s down to earth and has that country background that so many Eagles songs incorporate. Of course there are people who are hard to replace in any band but Vince shouldn’t worry about the people who don’t want him there and focus on enjoying his time in the band. None of us know when the end comes...

I think they now perform "Take It to the Limit" live in its original key of B major with Gill singing, right? I remember when Glenn Frey sang the lead, the song was transposed down to G major.

Vince and Amy are big heroes of mine. The truly humble, kind, selfless people out there are the greatest of all, whether they are famous or not. Most are not famous! Most are simple everyday folks, parents, rank and file workers... choosing to do the right thing every day. We need an awards ceremony for humble honorable people. Only they'd feel too full of themselves to ever accept an award for it. If that's you, keep up the good work. If you know people like that, pat them on the back and let them know you've noticed.
