Long Covid: so helpful to listen in to qualied people considering results of papers. Until now I've only come across media headlines which don't do justice to the finesses in the papers. Thank you

1:25:00 NEW ZEALAND minimised deaths due to vaccination before infections. All cause excess mortality as a result stayed below the baseline given initially locking down super fast, masking etc. Saving lives comes at a financial cost. Hard to say if that cost is more, less or equal to the financial statements in countrires with high excess deaths.

I contracted COVID in July. By August, I underwent tests for my hormones and discovered that my cortisol levels were low. I'm also experiencing lingering symptoms of COVID, including brain fog and fatigue.

So I have Covid right now, and I have six rescue kitties that like to lay all over me. Funny that this was the cover of your show! I literally was laying in bed with a mask on to keep my cat from getting Covid because I read that they can.

And in New Zealand we have plenty of MECFS, but it was especially prevalent after an outbreak in 1984 in a small farming town called Tapanui Flu. Interestingly there were spontaneous abortions of lambs on sheep farms around that same area during that period. Good hard working farmers had their lives ruined, Not a disease many people recover from .

If the cortisol is low, it would have to have been high for a time. I have had this for 20 years. I have EBV, Herpes simplex, and other viruses some active. The high cortisol phase felt to me like perhaps a cytochrome storm of sorts. I could not imagine having Long Covid on top of ME/CFS.

I have similar history with LC on top. The dysautonomia, terrible brain fog and lack of concentration distressing, and PEM in both body and brain after 3.5 years and lack of treatments are the most difficult things. Dr Bruce Patterson is doing great work and successful treatment with retrovirals which can cross the blood brain barrier, and prava statins but not approved or available in UK. The Yale study is early days but sounds encouraging and caught your interest. I have been watching TWIV for years now in the hope you would catch on to the research. A lot is being done in Europe and South Africa too fyi. I had Covid v mild symptoms in March 2020.

Great episode! Many thanks for bringing these papers into the discussion. It's truly remarkable how cells have repurposed endogenous retroviral proteins, such as Syncytin and Refrex. However, I'm curious about whether endogenous retroviral proteins expressed on the cell surface can effectively provide protection against active retroviruses. This is particularly intriguing given the significant variability in envelope proteins among different retroviruses. Is there any in vivo evidence to support the idea that endogenous retroviral proteins can trigger an immune response and offer cellular protection against external retroviruses?

I had severe fibromyalgia for over 12 years after having mild to moderate ME?CFS for a few years. I went the last 8 years with mild fibromyalgia. I had covid at the end of August, and now the fatigue, pain, and brain fog are pretty bad. I believe my cat got covid from he. He seemed under the weather and his eyes kept watering.

@actyrrel Soften a large onion, a few small carrots, some celery, a leek, a red pepper in a little oil, add a couple of bay leaves and some garlic, and ginger and then stir in a large teaspoon of bouillon powder, some tomato paste, and some harissa paste. Add 1/2 a cauliflower and a crown of broccoli. Simmer till soft, blend and serve with a spoon of crème fraîche. Healthy and nutritious

Thanks for all the mountains of information. Ik viruses are no laughing matter but they sure are fascinating!! Also I’m glad to hear ppl who hv been suffering for years w CFS are finally going to be taken more seriously! Maybe less gas lighting from physicians who didn’t understand the devastating and amazing effects viruses hv been hvn on our bodies and all life on earth since the beginning. This podcast is where I learned that even cancer can get viruses. That blew my mind.

Citation needed. Also, COVID infection has also been shown to cause irregular menstrual bleeding. This is not the gotcha you think it is because the immune and reproductive systems are tightly linked. I had irregular menses due to the vaxx, I'd still do it in a heartbeat and know it did not impact fertility or anything. However people tried to make it some big conspiracy and the CDC did not help by being dismissive of the numerous reports of it happening anecdotally.
