Dr Barbara Peterson, the Texas veterinarian who first reported bird flu in Texas cows back in March said many of the workers on the farm she visited with infected cows had sick workers with conjuvitis Etc. And that was back in March

The incidence of COVID-19 has started to increase in the UK. This can be seen in the level of wastewater and also hospital admissions.

The rise is from a very low base and coincides with the spring booster for the over 75s and those with weakened immune system. However, we do know the best protection is from natural infection for healthy people.

@@robinirons541 We started vaccinating the +75 group starting at the beginning of April, about 70% of this group have been vaccinated. Together with those at risk and the frontline healthcare workers, about 20% of the whole population have received the Spring Booster. The increase in cases and hospitalisation is not confined to those who have received the Spring Booster. Indeed the increase is proportionally lower in this group. The most likely reason is probably increased mixing due to people going on holiday.

@@christopherrobinson7541 yeah the updated vaccine fails against the newest variants as per usual. It will only be a matter of months when the vaccine manufacturers stop updating the vaccines and concentrate on anti virals and treatments like they do for other respiratory caused pneumonia.

When this bird flu got into cows, then it became mild or asymptomatic, which is great right? Because previously in birds, it’s highly pathogenic, a high mortality rate. I know there’s a few other mammals that got it and a handful of them had high virulence Just imagine this: there’s a crossover of the high, highly pathogenic version from birds to cows, and it retains its high mortality. Would wreck the agriculture industry as far as i am concerned, we dodged a bullet.

When SARS COV2 pandemic emerged in 2020 ,to have fever was a stigma. May that explain exces of automedication with antipiretic. If SARS COV2 better replicate at low tissue temperature (see at TWiV 659 at min29), maybe fever mitigate SARS COV2 infection ?

Are there hospital rooms with securely openenable windows ? Are carbon dioxide levels ever tested? What is wrong with mask and headshield and photo of medical staff on a gown ? Are triage rooms in open but protected spaces ? .

They should be wearing goggles as virions can float under the shields. Shields help somewhat but are primarily to protect against splashing of bodily fluids.

Bird flu fearporn is working for TWiV's paymasters: Shares of vaccine stocks Moderna, Novavax, and BioNTech rallied this week. While these three stocks gained notoriety back in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, it appears this week's detection of avian bird flu in a second U.S. citizen and the first-ever detection of avian flu in a human in Australia are spurring fears of an outbreak and thus a possible boon for companies that can quickly produce a bird flu vaccine.

The case fatality rate for humans that get Bird Flu is 56%, and I assume that the older the person, the chance of dying is greater.
