I marathoned an entire run of this where I made Jim Bunt, a bad James Bond parody series (that went from 4.25 average to perfect 10 in one game); Gabe Harding, a blatant Macventure/Gabriel Knight adventure knockoff; and a Castlevania clone called Metalvania where I always put the sound dev time up to max. Good times until I went to make a console and found out nobody wants a box that can only do 2D games, even if they look as good as Dust. The XRD tanked hard. :V I also had a moment similar to Joel's when it told him gameboy/adventure was a bad mix and he immediately pointed out Shadowgate Classic - I got a publisher request for a Space RPG on the Master V. "Well, shit, that's just Phantasy Star, that's easy." and then it got 3s and 4s and the report came up with "Space/RPG is a bad combination" and I just sat there thinking "wait but you just gave me literally Phantasy Star, WHY WOULD YOU TELL ME THAT DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE IT OBVIOUSLY DOES"

There's a lot of ways to break the game You can do it with any genre so long as you know what you're doing with your sliders- the game also sort of tracks a high score feature in a sense and you're guaranteed to get a hit at one point regardless of what you make, if I recall correctly

+DarkOmegaMK2 That version makes it impossible to get past the start. Your sales are really bad (like, not even making enough to make new engines and whatnot) because of people pirating the game. One trick to this is that the reviews/sales grade on a curve. If you make a bunch of 10/10 games at the start, then that becomes your audience's expectation, and you can make a game with almost the same setup and a better engine and get 5-6/10 reviews and bad sales for it. Many walkthroughs of the game recommend tanking it and trying just to make 7-8/10 rated games and saving the 9-10/10 rated games when the market becomes bigger in the later generations, or else you top out early and end up being in the shitter around the time the PS2/X-Box clones (I forget the names) come out. And eventually you do hit current-day consoles and even future generations.

The game was a PS1 equivelent of Heavy Rain meet's La Noire called Chicago Storm or Chicago Showers, I always went bankrupt developing a revolutionary sequel to it.

Joel is half-correct. The NES launched with Super Mario Bros, but the Famicom did not. The Famicom was released twice in Japan. The original model launched with Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, and Popeye (all Nintendo arcade games.) However, it had bad electronics that caused crashes and Nintendo was forced to recall the system. Once the motherboard was fixed, the re-released Famicom instantly dominated the electronic market. Nintendo decided to remodel the Famicom for the American release in order to resemble the then-popular VHS and to make it safer for children to handle. They named it the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). This version launched with Super Mario Bros, Ice Climber, Clu Clu Land, Wrecking Crew, Duck Hunt, Excitebike, Wild Gunman, etc.

They modified it so that after a period of time of gameplay you would actually lose game sales because people would pirate the games they made. The irony.

I do not think undertale is perfect far from it actually, but whenever I ask someone why they hate undertale. They say "THE COMMUNITY IS CANCER!!!" or "IT IS TOO POPULAR!!!" Which I find that is no reason to hate a game based off the fanbase. I am not trying to change your opinion, but I would like to hear why you do not like it...
