I love the idea of the game at 56:15 "After This I'm Hanging Myself", an open world, text-based dancing RPG game on the Gameboy, it has a strong focus on story, dialogue and world design, with little focus on sound/music, featuring a built-in level editor. It scored 3 out of 10 consistently with reviewers, and lead to the bankruptcy of VinEa (named as a parody of Electronic Arts), their assets being bought out by Electronic Mass Productions (itself, also a parody of Electronic Arts). It's such a surreal, odd duck of a game.

@0neDoomedSpaceMarine Жыл бұрын
No, you didn't get it right, because the steak he got wasn't medium rare, it was _well done._ $30 isn't that much all in all, but for the price it really oughta actually come as medium rare when ordered as such, it's very little to ask for and ought to be part of the service.

Think losing 30 bucks on a nasty steak is bad? Try bringing your immediate family to a Sushi buffet, being told by staff that it was going to be $15 a plate, after eating a shitty, disgusting meal, I get the bill $35 a plate plus $8 for 2 tea packets!!! they said "Sunday dinner is more expensive" I was lied to by staff and the manager didn't give a shit. So after spending $183 on food- equivalent to a paycheck at that time, I shat my brains out an hour later.

Windows 8 destruction was done during the charity stream of this year. Windows 7 destruction, while uploaded on this channel this year, was originally streamed in July 2014. The Bootleg Windows 98 on NES doesn't really count as it was more a joke than anything else, being merely a NES bootleg that made itself look like some version of Windows, a simple collection of screenshots under the guise of a workable interface.

In reference to Joel wondering about whether he should be concerned that he doesn't know BASIC or x86 assembly, the answer is no. BASIC is almost entirely obsolete, I don't think I've even come across it in systems I've been upgrading, you really don't see out in the wild any more. As for x86 assembly, it helps to have a basic understanding of it, but it's not essential that you be familiar with it as a programmer nowadays. It's rare that you actually come across circumstances where you even have the option to code parts of a program in assembly of any kind. It's only really necessary to have an understanding of it so that you know what's happening on the other end of a compiler. It's really not necessary to be able to write functional assembly yourself nowadays unless you want to write or override a compiler. After all, it's the job of the compiler to translate to assembly/machine code for you.

I probably would have been really disappointed in the steak too, but it goes against my genetic DNA to make a scene at a restaurant. Probably wouldn't ask for a refund. I don't agree that the "customer is always right" 100% as some customers can be really obnoxious and unfit for service, but if you don't get what you paid for and they get the order wrong TWICE, then the customer has all the reason to be annoyed.

They still got the order wrong, so the fault still lies on them. If incompetent chefs have an item they failed to make consecutively get a sucker to buy it, then they're still at fault as they failed to deliver the product as it was meant to be. If you're going to go with the argument that he should've expected this, then that does not subvert the point Joel made about how the item shouldn't have been on the menu at all. His father didn't do much better as all he did was give justifications that only work on children ("They're doing their best and that's all that matters" try saying that in a business that survives only because of pragmatic minds) and try to rub in his whole "medium rare has parasites" schtick.

I cringed so hard when he made crackhead sim 3, basing the final step off of their workloads instead of making a good game...

A horror adventure game with simple cutscenes, lots of story, and crappy 3D graphics? Sounds like a specific hill that Joel forgot to play.

Basic was extremely show, almost every 8 bit game is written in assembly. Basic was a really cool programming language and many people probably got into programming from it, but you could only write simple programs with it or things like text adventures

Now I kinda want to, as a games development graduate, cobble together an engine to the best of my abilities completely on my own and with no industry experience, which will likely be shoddy as all hell, and call it The Budget Engine. Then try to market it XD

Sports is the cash cow. 'Spropts!', however, is a fucking success. Then 'Portable Spropts!' was a MASSIVE success. So massive that it set industry standards. Seriously, my playthrough consisted of 'Spropts!' as the main cash cow. But then again, 'Spropts!' is just stupid sports, like keyboard 'hammer throw', EXTREME knitting, Space Hopper 100m Hurdles, The infamous Stab Walk (basically suriving a 100m walk with a stab wound) and Castram VPC (let's say loosely tied to the Alan Michael Sugar Trading Colour Personal Computer) figure skating. I'm making the 'Spropts!' up. But let's say that my games contain this.

I wish making real games would be this easy... "Just gonna... put up the Gameplay... and maybe some of that... and done! Now let's generate this game!"

Joel constantly talks about how shitty and corrupt the game industry is and even shit on people like Sarkeesian but then he says "Don't bring up that GamerGate shit". I lack the ability to comprehend.

Dynasty Warriors is the perfect example of what you talked about 20 minutes in. The first game was a fighting game, every game after is the genre you know DW for.
