Ackshully, it's the number of Pokemon in the game squared. Unless they keep adding more layers of fusion, like the hinted at 3 pokemon fusion, then the number of combinations is very much limited. 🤓🤓🤓

Scarlet/Violet has an entire storyline about a guy trying to heal his seriously injured pokemon that pokemon centers can't help, and (spoilers) turns out the professor was dead the whole game. And your ride pokemon is traumatized from seeing him die. So yeah they still do stuff regarding death and dark things.

they like to do little bits of good ideas but not explore them in any way since the games are so horribly rushed now Ultra Beasts had some amazing concepts in ultra sun/moon but the entire game is a really bland tread of hawaiian islands

​@@PrismTheKid I really liked the smaller, more family-focused story of Sun/Moon, and I was hoping it would be explored further in USUM. It's a shame that that took a backseat in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon to the Ultra Beasts and Necrozma instead. Just like how Arven was told to basically get over the death of his parent, Lillie and Gladion got over the whole thing with their mom pretty quickly. Both games could've been used as ways to teach younger players life lessons about life and loss of loved ones, but they fumbled it by not focusing on that.

I feel like what Joel means is when this kind of dark stuff is demonstrated in a very realistic and relatable way, rather than being the center of the entire plot. Like when the main story is about death or loss, it feels like the entire world revolves around your adventure and all that matters is what you witness. When background characters are lamenting the death of a dear pet or a loved one and you notice them going through grief, it gives this feeling of raw realism and perspective and reminds you that people you don't know still have to face these experiences.

I love this series I really do but Joel's gameplay... I just can't take a vow of silence anymore.
