Since a few streams in, I've been paying close attention to how close Joel's stats are to 0. He's been gradually taking more risks with his sleep, culminating in this stream. The bit where he walked home at 0 was super tense for the audience despite the music, and even though it's unbelievable that Joel didn't get grabbed then, it still made for a great sequence. Imagine my shock and awe when Joel hit 0 sleep again in the same stream, and an even more deranged scenario played out. It wasn't just everything I hoped it would be, it was better. Something that strikes to me as frankly quite clever from the developer is when that midnight terror duende raptured Joey, instead of showing a black screen written "lol u ded", it sent him into a nightmare. Dunno man, in a situation like that i feel like many other games would choose to straight out kill the player, in which would most likely ruin any immension the experience could offer onwards. Other choice that got to me the right way is that when you first spot the nightmare marcianito, the only things showing are their eyes. Don't know if it was intentional, but the boogly eyes just standing there eventually feel underwhelming, to the point that Joel himself called it a friend. That opened the perfect window for him to lower his guard down and to just shit on the floor when he saw the creature's skeletal nightmarish features

So from what I'm understanding by these comments, the eye duende wasn't the invisible alien and, in fact, WAS a hallucination caused by sleep deprivation, but because the encounter coincided with the anti-grav sequence, Joel thought it *was* the alien because "If the things floating wasn't a sleep deprivation hallucination, then neither was the eye man." I've been intentionally preventing myself from looking up information about this game so I can keep it as scary and unsettling as possible for whenever Joey streams, so I genuinely would not know.

2:35:32 The beginning of the abduction. Absolutely lost it over this part, that alien is now obviously hostile, and I feel like they did something to the character. When the alien touched the character, he immediately went into a nightmare, I feel like the alien, and the nightmares are connected more than we think. Maybe they are the ones giving the nightmares? Not sure, but there are definitely some shenanigans going on.

@@jaatelomiess he probably knows that, what he is (probably) saying is that thanks to some discoveries made in the game that have a shitload of references to the nightmares, that there is a very real possibility that the nightmares are not just spooky dreams but actual abductions, and the sleep paralysis demon is just the alien that gets you in your sleep getting real tired of your shit if you don't sleep and just throwing stealth out the window to get your ass.

Being able to eat anything would be pretty interesting. A gram of uranium has about 18 million kCal. Maximum recommended daily intake is 2500-3000. Our digestive sysetm will also have to be some kind of nuclear superreactor that can split absolutely every atom and rearrange them in any combination that our body can use, which means we probably couldn't be solid lifeforms anymore. At least not fully solid. We'd also now probably NEED to consume heavy atoms like uranium to be able to power this insane new form, but more realistically we'd probably be mostly snacking on stars and gas giants.

I don't know why, but there's something oddly unsettling about the part where Joel was hunting for Maxwell the cat, especially after he was attacked by an sleep deprivation alien. Just imagine you're in the woods, it's pouring with rain, hunting for something, and then you hear a faint "Doodoodoodoo *doop doop* booboobooboo *boop boop* BAWW WAAAAAW WAAAAAW WAAAAAW" on loop.
