To my knowledge Dorfromantik is the graduation project of some German lads. And they've really nailed the relaxed atmosphere and endorphin inducing soundtrack and jingles. There's this pleasant danish bloke that has a running series on the game with 100+ Episodes, called Zeawen. His run is going quite strong.

There’s a board game adaptation of this too, and that’s also rather delightful. It doesn’t have that same “infinite” feel, but it still does capture the feeling of unlocking new stuff every time you play.

So last time he recorded himself playung this, he played Dice Kingdoms for the first half, and for the second half, he played Dorfromantik. Then there's this prerecord, which isn't numbered, so i assume it's gonna be the only one. Does that make this game a One-and-a-half-off?

I think the filter changes sound good Vinny. Definitely clearer without losing that radio voice vibe you go for. The sibilants come through sharply, which might be nice to tone down a tiny tiny bit, but it also helps with being clearly understandable.

If anyone's curious the last time Vinny recorded the game it was paired up with Dice Kingdoms. Vinny's "rocks" are field tiles right? Elgato Game Capture HD60 S would have video (on a delay) in its own capture software and the audio would be synced. The software is pretty... undesirable to use though. OBS supports capturing with it, but the audio has a large delay and you have to offset it yourself. I've previously used game capture footage with native audio as well as line in audio recorded and compared their waveforms in Audacity to figure out the offsets. It drives me up the wall knowing I'll probably never get it perfect. 0:39:46 1:16:34 1:19:02 2:16:21 - 66+

I dunno if Vin will read this, but I wanted to say that water tiles that look like lakes or ponds can be surrounded by any other tile (except rail), while rivers need to be connected at the ends. It's helped me quite a bit with closing off waterways.

Something important to keep in mind if you wanna go for better scores... always go for perfect tiles. The really good players get a 95%+ perfect tile rate. That means every single side of a tile matches the tiles around it. Don't just connect a house to a house, make sure the other sides also match. Every perfect tiles gives you +1 extra tile and these REALLY start to add up. It does take longer to place every tile because you have to search for the perfect spot but you'll have better runs. It's also good to seperate your map into zones. Have a water area, a tree area, a farm area etc. There's more nuances to it like making sure to close off large groups (that's what the flags are) closing a group also nets you extra tiles. Plus, closing groups keeps your quest number smaller and more manageable instead of requiring massive numbers of things to complete. There's a surprising amount of depth in the strategy for this game. I suck at it despite knowing all these tips but I hope it helps you get better scores!

It's definitely an interesting take on a city builder to, rather than the challenge being adapting to the imperfect environment around you and attempting to create a perfect city on top of it, to have an imperfect city and build it as it comes along.

@@user199x It might be that one heard from the other! To be honest, ever since hearing the project name since its inception, I can't tell anymore if "Dorfromantik" was a legitimate term before or not. To me, it sounds like "a love for villages and the rural life", which is not an unfeasible concept for developers based in Berlin - the city-state that is surrounded by the state of Brandenburg, which is known for its vast countrysides and plenty little villages. But I don't know if that was their motivation and it might just be projection on my part! (Also, what was the other game?)
