I will probably watch the Barbie movie (though probably not in the theater), because I tend to like Gerwig's work, and the movie seems like it's going to be self-aware, which I think will work to its advantage. Also, when it comes out on physical disc, I can just imagine the fabulous hot pink steelbook we will (hopefully) likely get for it lol

I'm falling for the bait but just because Tenet wasn't for everyone doesn't mean he's bad. His movies are beloved for a reason, and I know most here don't care but contrarians are so annoying... Disliking something is not a character trait :/

Neither is liking things because most people do. People tend to mix-up contrarian behavior with genuine criticism these days, especially with Nolan because a lot of what he does is considered genius and he does not seem to be very humble about it (see his oppenheimer claims and his behavior when shooting). Obviously it's really a matter of taste, but there's clearly a difference in quality and character depth when he is the only writer credited as opposed to when his brother co-writes, these two should be viewed as a pair whereas one of them gets all the credit and reputation.

@@CoudBar3 Absolutely, I mean, I was only talking directing here and I never claimed to blindly love all his work nor do I (usually) confuse critique for contrarianism. I love critique, especially on works I love, evel if I don't agree. I also think liking something because others do is something I would never say is a bad thing. To me, liking something (that doesn't pose any harm of some sort) could never be a bad thing. Nolan isn't super revolutionary in his filmmaking, he's just very good. The type of people who would critique people who like Nolan vs Christoffer Nolan himself is when I start calling them contrarian; the type of behavior that caused this comment. I think in the video someone jokingly called Vinny a Nolan lover, as if that would be bad somehow. In the chatter case it was 100% just a joke, but it reminded me of how often it actually happens. Especially now with all the Barbie vs Oppenheimer stuff that turned from meme to real discourse. Personally I'm way more excited for Barbie because I adore Greta Gerwig! :) (I hope none of this comes off as hostile in any way, I struggle with tone, I was just trying to elaborate on my perspective as I realized my first comment can be easily misunderstood...)

I think the Nolan lover thing is just a way to point at the weird crowd that worships him like a god (not just the movies). I just responded to this comment because of the contrarian thing that gets thrown out a lot whenever someone dares to point at a flaw in his movies. Now, I get your point, and I think I should look more into Gerwig's movies as I'm not familiar with those.
