Man, the claustrophobic streets in permanent darkness with no visible sky are ON POINT! For those that don't know, the real-life Kowloon City ended up in a legal grayzone that made it an almost completely lawless land, the only real limitations were the city boundary (including upwards, because it was close to an active airport), so it gradually morphed into a cube of buildings that took up all available space and was the most densely populated place that has ever existed on the planet. This game gets across the vibe of the area perfectly.

For a game with such bizarre character design, it really is a shame that the only things you get to fight are boring looking humans. Save for one little Duende security guard at the club. It's even more of a shame however that even with the fire lyrics on his mixtape, Sergio did not become a big shot. He got the big shot through his head instead.

So I had originally suggested the early demo for Kowloon's Curse which is way different than this. That demo is only the battles and you battle many strange creatures. The only issue is, you're floating down the same hallway throughout the entirety of it and the battles are automatically started. It's not a good representation of the full game with the exploration, but I do lament that Lost Report lacked the kind of battles the early demo had.

Since SMT was brought up, I might as well point out that a game being long isn't a bad thing on its own. Developers shouldn't feel the need to cater to a streamer's wants and needs at the expense of the game they're creating, nor is a game bad for not doing so. Some games perfectly justify their larger scales and longer runtimes, and make sure the time players spend in them is meaningful and worthwhile. Believe it or not, games like Xenoblade and SMT are brought up so frequently with good reason; because they're exceptional in both respecting the player's time and ensuring a quality experience throughout. Some games are too long for their own good and pad their runtime out with filler content, yes, but by that same token, some games suffer from their short length, leaving plot holes in their wake and failing to let their ideas and gameplay mechanics reach their true potential. Length, on its own, tells you nothing about a game's quality. There are outliers of course, like Xenoblade 2 and its horrendous writing, voice acting and time-wasting tedium, and most modern Megaten games sanitising their content to an ironic degree. But let's not pretend every RPG series is created equal. Don't just assume every long JRPG is as bland, plain and mechanically-dull as the majority of turn-based Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games. SMT set the gold standard for turn-based combat that's yet to be surpassed, and Xenoblade has only continued to improve upon its unique real-time battle system. Anyone who complains about Pokemon's general lack of quality while proceeding to hand over their money for each game has no right to complain about SMT's length, when it was literally the solution to their problems. It's also funny to me that the same people whining about SMT's length (despite never playing any games to know how long they are or whether that's even an issue) will spend hundreds of hours on games like Red Dead 2, Bethesda's Fallout, or Cyberpunk, which are arguably even more disrespectful towards the player's time and intelligence with their lazy side-content and self-indulgent writing. I wouldn't exactly call those games "streamable", especially when the end-result of streaming those are over 20 multi-hour-long videos. I love Zelda TOTK as much as the next guy, but if people are going to complain about how long SMT or Xenoblade would be as a streaming commitment instead of just meeting those games on their own terms, the least they could do is be less hypocritical. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anyone NEEDS to stream those games, or that I also didn't enjoy Kowloon's Curse. But it makes these streams really difficult to watch when SMT is constantly acknowledged, year after year, and then condescendingly brushed aside with the usual surface-level complaints, like the "tweeeenty minutes!" meme. If it really doesn't interest you, then why keep bringing it up? You have a choice as to what messages you read or ignore, and the least you can do for a sizable portion of your audience (which by the way, there's overlap with SMT) is not constantly patronize them. It's as tone-deaf as the Mighty No.9 ad making fun of anime fans, completely ignoring the overlap between anime fans and Megaman.

Man, this Persona 1 remake sure is looking weird. Jokes aside, the first Persona could really use a remake. Especially if it had the dungeon quality Q1 and Q2 had. Also simplify the world map, making it more like Persona 2's world map, because P1's world map is the most bland ball of gray poo, as eerie as it is.
