The "Corporation" game is pretty cool actually, I had forgotten about it after seeing it in a Genesis compilation like 15 years ago. " Originally released for Amiga in 1990, it is one of the earliest 3D first-person shooter games, predating ID Software's Wolfenstein 3D (1992). It was also the first of its kind to utilize dynamic lighting. Gameplay was very complex for its time, featuring role-playing, stealth and hacking elements, similar to the later System Shock and Deus Ex series of games." That is impressive. I was also surprised Vinny never had heard about the Brazilian Duke Nukem 3D "port"... The Mario clone is more well-made than many too.

I loved that game (Also on SNES), but I could never get past the Snorch boss, couldn't figure out how to beat him. Years later, enter the Internet. Apparently you had to throw trash at the tire in the stage to bounce back and hit him, because direct hits did nothing. That level sucked because it was hard enough to get through anyway because you had to race against rising water through a tube maze.

I had it around that age too, maybe the rental was missing it but the actual game had an instruction booklet that listed all the moves. My little sister and I beat the game, didn't really think it was bad, didn't really stand out on the system but was pretty fun, though half the time we did the multiplayer 1v1 where you could freely use gadgets or play as any enemy in the game complete with their powers. (seriously, there's like a zillion moves and gadgets in this game)

Streets of Rage 2, Mortal Kombat 1 & 2, Ristar (Dat final boss, and Lock up!), Sonic spinball (Minus the first 30 seconds of the options menu which is pure ear-rape followed by something reasonable), Dr Robotnick's mean bean machine (which, while just a remake of Puyo Puyo, has it's own soundtrack which gets some pretty funky and fast slap bass) Toejam & Earl panic on funkatron, about half the music in B.O.B. / Funky bob. EARTHWORM JIM... Level 5 for pete's sake, USE YOUR HEAD! Echo the dolphin 1 & 2, The opening music to Urban strike, Shit even Vectorman 2 had a decent soundtrack, even if the game kinda sucked. Shit sonic 3d blast was a terrible game but had a pretty sweet soundtrack. Hell the sega genesis version of Disney's aladdin had 'the escape'.

Big Core Mk X, Check out the following, and read what I say after the list Ristar - Kaiser's theme (the perfect evil villain theme, It would fit in with SoR) Vectorman - (the music for day 1 through day 8, and the options menu with like 1 exception the whole soundtrack is gold) Devil crash / Dragons fury - Opening theme Earth worm jim - Level 5, The Descent, The queen's lair, New junk city, For pete's sake Eco the dolphin - the tides of time - Two tides, Inside, Mortal Kombat 1 : opening theme, Courtyard, Hall, Goro's lair (the mortal kombat soundtracks are superior on genesis) Mortal Kombat 2 : ending theme, Opening theme The terminator - Introduction terminator 2 - Title theme A lot of the problem with peoples bad impressions of genesis music, stems from people just using the stock presets provided by sega, instead of actually using the YM2612 to make their own, as the stock presets are notoriously bad. they where basically treating it as a set soundfont, or dumping a midi file in, with no other consideration. Meanwhile the later sonic games, pretty much every game I listed here except the terminator games use pretty much custom sounds for everything. That's what made Streets of rage so good, is they took the time to make it SOUND GOOD. In fact I'd think with streets of rage 80% of the development time must have gone into the sountrack, and I can prove it, Just try playing it in silence. It's not fun in silence, it's just frustration. Even this said, On rare occasion there is a soundtrack that uses some stock sounds, that actually sound damn good because they picked just the right sounds, and... they actually humanized it instead of having FLAT NOTE VOLUME. Stuff like the soundtrack to disney's aladdin, The slightly painful soundtrack to Alien Storm, Toejam & earl panic on funkatron, Super Monaco GP had some good tracks, which is sad because during gameplay it's silence, and the music is only on the menu screens and score screens, and some if it is so smooth or funky, and some was clearly written to be played during a race.... Oh yeah, and rock & roll racing, which got licensed music re-made with the 2612. some good shit.

I once did the /v/ Gauntlet where you had to beat a random game on each console back to back. I got Corporation (which was called Cyber Cop in my version) as my Genesis game. You actually lose energy just from walking in that game and you have to constantly replenish it by drinking some protein sippy or by pausing the game for five minutes.
