The story is explicitly based on the ancient Japanese mythological creature called mujina (shapeshifting badger) which is hisuian typhlosions inspiration and not some kind of fucked up fanfic. The story even mentions how the typhlosion couldn’t be waked up during its deep slumber and how it told the young woman (not girl btw) that she shouldn’t look ar him while he sleeps, these two traits are also shared with the mujina which are told to block shrine entrances by shape shifting into monks and sleeping there, so deeply that they can’t be woken up, but it’s a double edged sword for them because their shape shifting magic wears off during their slumber. They are also said to deceive people with songs, which is also referenced in the story. It makes me so incredibly mad as someone who is interested in mythology for this story to be reduced to a smut fanfic. And then there’s people who wish for this franchise to take a more mature approach… nobody would even be able to handle it because the reading comprehension of the fandom is on par with the target demographic of this franchise

according to what people say now, the leak was machine translated. There was no r-word involved and the girl was actually a young woman, not a child. It was supposed to be a typical "human becomes romantically involved with yokai and forgets everything after it ends in tragedy" sort of story but with a typhlosion supplementing a yokai, which is also why the story mentioned the typhlosion shape shifting into a young man. So no, there were no typhlosions ever taking part in any diddy parties, and thank god for that. (I'm copy-pasting this on every typhlosion video i see)

@@Azumarito I think its just cause people don't appreciate some of the creative process of creating proper mythos. Especially in Japan. And especially in childrens media. These mythos are NORMAL to them. And when creating mythos based on real world equivalents. It makes perfect sense to start by just simply copying what you know and using that as a base. This is common in childrens media. Start with something rough and sand down the edges. This is why Godot wasn't made a drinker and smoker in Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations. He was made acoffee addict as a child-froendly way of depicting someone using an addiction to cope with grief. (Fun fact. If you look at Diego's first trial with Mia. He only seems to drink a single coffee. Showing his obsession with drinking coffee doesnt begin until after he wakes up and finds out whats happened.) These mythos were likely tests to see what they thought could work. And what could be comfortably transformed into proper mythos. After all a lot of Pokemon, a lot more then people realize, are based on Shinto demons, monsters, and fantastical creatures of Japanese Folklore. In short. People are being weird. Because they dont get the whole context.

Actually in a private conversation with a friend of mine, I went on to show HOW these stories could have been made child friendly. Such as replacing the Slakoth story with one where the children are making the Slakoth muddy, and its ruining the drinking water of the Slakoth. The writer was probably just spit balling and the scrapped concepts just got left about because the writer probably just couldn't find a good reason to use them. Or they just didn't think they'd work. They're all still fucked up stories but they're just fucked up Japanese Mythos at the end of the day. Which is why I personally think this entire thing is kinda blown outta proportion, same as you. Still I very much agree and I am happy these stories were not included.
