A little more juicy detail on the claims of people 'having headaches' from the Lavender Town music, GamerFromMars did a video similar to this one many years ago, where he also played the song in his video. Thing is, he inadvertently played part of the music that did _not_ have the alleged frequencies. Yet, on his video, countless people still claimed to have had headaches, or felt ill-at-ease after listening to it. Which is essentially the idea of the power of suggestion making you hear or feel things that aren't actually there.
@hedgehog31805 жыл бұрын
I mean it does make sense that a song intentionally meant to be creepy would make people uncomfortable especially after being told that it made people kill themselves, this is how ghost stories have always worked we just live in a different world now and what's creepy for us is different than what used to be.

I'm not going to lie, the song makes me feel like I'm about to vomit. Then again, it could be my mind doing the thing where you hear about a song or something making people feel a certain way, so your brain decides "hey that sounds fun!"
@ambermargheim57265 жыл бұрын
That's called placebo effect. If your given a candy that looks like a pill, and are told it will help with stomach pain, it's likely to help, because your brain trys to make the body match.

Imagine if you never heard of this song and someone says: “hey, listen to this kind of creepy song,” and then plays the music. It would seem creepy, but just a bit creepy. But if the person says: “hey, listen to this creepy song that is rumored to cause people to commit suicide,” and then plays the song. You would feel much more disturbed by the song because you might worry if it would affect you.

I may be late to the party but the song never having been changed between versions is false. No, it wasn't changed between the Japanese and Americans versions, it was changed in the middle of game development because the original Lavender Town theme caused strain on the speakers. The whole myth of headaches and suicides came from the original case where, because the pitches are high pitched and made worse by speaker strain, those who played the copies with the original song did get headaches, nothing more. It was like nails on a chalkboard and so the song was tweaked.
@TetraBitGaming6 жыл бұрын
Do you have a source for this?
@hedgehog31805 жыл бұрын
How would it cause strain on the speakers? High pitches don't damage speakers they're incredibly simple and reliable devices. Like at a high pitch it's just vibrating really fast and that doesn't do anything. We'd have to start vibrating really fast, as in far beyond human hearing, before components are actually damaged but I highly doubt that the Gameboy could even generate that. Speakers sounding badly is rarely ever caused by damage but is just a result of them being bad speakers and well the Gameboy with it's tiny speaker in a plastic casing and poor processing power just isn't ever going to produce high quality sound. It's more likely that the Gameboys in question were damaged in shipping.
@AngelaTheSephira4 жыл бұрын
@@hedgehog3180 To be fair, vibrations can cause damage to speakers, especially at resonant frequencies of their materials. Plus, it *could* be overdriving the amplification circuit, although I'd be more more concerned about that at low frequencies.

Afterwards i did began hearing Many of the game's sounds and themes even when i wasn't playing it. As strange as that is. So, Im sure people said this before, but I think I know why Lavender Town has those frequencies. Since the devs were adults, they couldn't hear the frequencies and so put them in without realizing. They thought they created a already creepy song, but the truth was much more sinister. Why I believe the devs probably asked children who already like Pokemon to test the game to see if they like it to have an opinion to the audience they're creating the game for.

Keegan K. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from criticism. If the kid comments, is it not in MY constitutional rights to call his poor English out? I said that it was a joke. You didn’t want to just take that as it was, and you’re extrapolating more out of this situation than needs to be taken. The kid made a comment, and I replied. That’s all there is to it.

Those pokemon that spelled “Leave Now” are unown probably. Unown have different sprites, therefore, it is likely that they spell something demonic. And the ghost from the game? Looks familiar...
