I like Longines.... had a few passing the bench. Never seen screws that long in them though. These days the brand is treated a bit like the red-haired stepchild.... I wonder why Paddy

They did make exceptionally good watches and they still do. I think sadly nowadays they're looked down upon because they're under the Swatch group umbrella and tend to use off the shelf ETA or similar movements but the designs and execution of them are still excellent, they're great bargains for those who aren't prone to the snobbery that certain brands receive. The screws in this one were incredibly long. First time I've encountered it. Almost enough to secure the dial to the movement and whole thing to the case. Really nicely made movement and for 71 years old looking and performing better than me.

The serial number is 1953-55 but no watches I've seen on google images at that time come without the longines wings. That's a kind of 1960's trend. Pencil hands were common but dauphine hands were more common. A strange beast for sure.

Interesting Rob thanks. I was advised by a couple of folk the serial dated it to 1950 from photos uploaded to a couple of groups. It's a lovely watch. Solid movement and really nice case. I believe the owner will be selling it on.

Intresting movement! Little better light, would be nice. So one can have nice view of the shiny bits. 😊

Apologies if it's a bit dark. I thought it looked okay on the edit. I'll check the next one I edit to try and make sure it's not too dark.

What is the movement number? 19A? I have a Longines automatic with a 19A movement that needs some work. I imagine your watch movement is similar??19A

I couldn't tell you offhand. This one went back to its owner some time ago

It certainly is a lovely watch Che, I've never seen such long industrial looking screws in a watch, it makes me wonder the reasoning behind it? It's almost as extreme as shoving a 6" nail through and bending the excess over at the other side!

Lol. Great analogy. They're nearly long enough to pass through the case back and bolt the whole thing to the bezel. A real oddity indeed.
