I got my Scalextric set with two AC Cobras in about 1968, but already had two kit cars for hire tracks a Tokyo Plamo open wheeler and a Tamiya Prince GT

My first slot car was in 1965. It was an Eldon. I came with RED track and had to have the metal contacts placed in the track. I was eleven years old and could not put the contacts in. I put that set under my bed and it set there until I was 15 years old. I finally figure out how to put the metal contacts in the track and got to use the set. Some Christmas present.

Glad to find your video. I have my first two Thunderjets on the table beside me now: the Cobra roadster and the Cheetah. They are in the process of being restored after over fifty years in storage. In about a week the HO track in the basement will be complete.
