My Nan was given one of these by her friend in the late 80s when she moved house and only wanted to take her upright with her! It meant Nan was able to stop having to lug the Hoover Junior upstairs as she could keep the Freedom up there instead! When she moved to a bungalow in 1990 the Junior was retired and the Freedom went with her and did a sterling job until she died in 1999. I've never seen one since or been able to find info about it online so I'm pleased to see your video and get confirmation that it wasn't a figment of my imagination!

For a 44-year-old vacuum cleaner that Freedom is in remarkably good condition. It has a few battle scars but that's acceptable given its age, the motor sounds good and it performs well.

For a Freedom it's very surprising. They weren't the strongest cleaners ever made...

I like it! Cool features & colors. Somewhere I read in a catalog description that a Hoover's color scheme was Dameon & Lavender. I wonder if this is the model? I have also seen the S4008 in a catalog in lighter colors named Almond & Honey Beige; so maybe yours was a store exclusive.

1000w in 1975, that was powerful for back then.

Incredibly so. I think 600 watts was about average for '75
